Digital Transformation has been the Biggest Challenge…
IBM Z System7
— A recent Bain & Company article polled over a thousand companies and asked them to grade the success
of their transformation projects from last year. These 1,000+ companies Self – reported that only 5% of
their digital transformation projects achieved the objectives they set out to accomplish at the start of the
project.
• They tried to “boil the ocean”
• They didn’t have a clear business objective
• Or they didn’t use the right implementation methodology
• Didn’t utilize the right partner
• Not getting the ROI they anticipated
• Couldn’t push it out across the organization

modernization
Unique workload needs – compliance,

Multiple clouds & vendors – hard to

Lack of necessary skills – how do you
prioritize and deliver modernization
What’s preventing rapid

Transformation Advisor is a tool that consumes information about your WebSphere Environment
and Applications. These inputs are combined with rules and insights gained from years of working
with WebSphere and WebSphere applications to provide recommendations for your cloud journey.
Workload Assessment
• Quickly evaluate your applications for rapid
deployment on Public and/or Private Cloud
environments
• Calculate the development cost to perform the
move to cloud and receive recommendations on the
best target environment
• Detailed reports include advice, suggestions, and
best practices to ensure that the application runs
correctly in the recommended cloud environment
• Enables administrators to evaluate applications in
minutes without accessing source code
The Transformation Advisor is available
as free content on IBM Cloud Private
IBM Microclimate
Microclimate is an end to end development environment that lets you rapidly create,
edit, and deploy applications. Applications are run in containers from day one and can
be delivered into production on Kubernetes through an automated DevOps pipeline using
Jenkins. Microclimate can be installed locally or on IBM Cloud Private.

• Brings Oracle and other non-containerizable workloads (WAS-ND, in-
house monoliths etc.) to hybrid cloud
• Deploy/manage your existing VM workloads
• Based on Terraform so supports all Terraform providers
• VMWare
• zVM CMA or alternative OpenStack implementation APIs on IBM Z
• Azure, GCE, AWS are among the 9 first class ICP citizens

FULL STACK SOLUTION
A software appliance based on the IBM Secure Service Container
framework that can host Docker containerized workloads delivering
data security in the cloud and on-premise.
Hosts ICP Kubernetes (k8s) worker and proxy nodes of ICP clusters
delivering VM level isolation to the applications; the worker nodes then
host the actual Docker containerized applications

Boot Node • A boot or bootstrap node is used for running IBM Cloud Private installation, configuration, node
scaling, and cluster updates
• One boot node is required for any cluster
Master Node • Provides management services and controls the worker nodes in a cluster
• Master nodes host processes that are responsible for resource allocation, state maintenance,
scheduling, and monitoring
• Multiple master nodes are in a high availability (HA) environment to allow for failover if the leading
master host fails
Worker Node • Provides a containerized environment for running workload and tasks
• Worker nodes can be added or removed to scale up or down the cluster capacity
• A cluster can contain any number of worker nodes, but a minimum of one worker node is required
• Transmits external request to the services created inside the cluster
• HA environment deploy multiple proxy nodes to allow for failover
Proxy Node
• Hosts management services such as monitoring, metering, and logging
• Offload master node from becoming overloaded
• The management node can only be enabled during IBM Cloud Private installation
