2. Hardware
Hardware is anything from The
camera I have used to take my
photos to the Camera lens, For my
media product The hardware I have
used is the camera for taking
pictures , An apple Mac Computer ,
Keyboard and mouse for typing and
using the computer and the USB/SD
card reader for putting my pictures
onto the computer and also the
backdrop and strobe lights to make
the pictures look more proffesional.

3. Apple Mac
The Apple Mac is what we use to
photo shop our pictures using
photo shop , and post it on our
blogs (word press) , We use the
apple mac to do everything , We
use the computer to store all our
pictures , To do power points on ,
We use the internet , this is called
safari to go on our blogs and to
find and put information we need.

4. Keyboard & mouse
• The keyboard is very important , we use the command and C to copy and
command and V to paste. We use the keys command , shift and 4 to
screenshot what is on the screen. With the mouse you can drag a picture
from your desktop and place It into your work or photo shop. Because this
is an apple mac we use the keyboard and mouse more than usual then we
would normally on a regular computer.

5. Camera
• The camera I used to take
photos was a Nikon D3100
, I used this to take
pictures of my artist , Also
with the backdrop and the
stroke lights , This made
my photos look very
professional and clear ,
also nothing was in the
way so it was easy to put
onto photo shop and edit.
On the camera if you
wanted to use the shutter
speed it would be set to
1300 .

6. USB/SD Card Reader
• The SD Card Reader is used to put our
pictures into the laptop , when we take
our photos from the camera they save
onto the card , we put that card into a
USB That goes into the computer. This
can also be used to delete photos off
the camera or put photos on the
camera. SD Card readers are different
from memory cards , Memory cards
store your pictures/information directly
onto the device where as a SD Card
Reader , you can use any memory card
from any camera to put into the SD
Card and whatever information is on
that card will then transfer onto your
computer.

7. Backdrop and Strobe Light
The backdrop and Strobe Light is
used when we are taking our
photos , The backdrop is to make
sure nothing interferes with the
person you are taking a picture off ,
The strobe lights are used for the
lighting in the picture , depending
on where you place them the
lighting on the person , In your
photo will be light or dark., The two
big light stands are called strobe
flash is used for the light and is
triggered by a flash , We then have
a soft box that goes over the strobe
light to soften the light , the bigger
the soft box the better the effect ,
we used 2 soft boxes.

8. Software
• Software is The programmes we use on the Apple Mac like
Photoshop , power point , safari to access internet , We also
access things like word press , Our own blogs , The ST peters
media blog , Slide share and Prezi. These are all of the
programmes I have used on my apple mac computer so far.

9. Wordpress/Blog
We use our blogs to post all of our work , Depending on whether our
work is a power point or not then we would have to use slide hare to
then post it on to our blogs. We use word press to add new blogs ,
pages and media. Our blogs belong to us , they have all of our work on
from the beginning until we finish our products.

10. Photoshop/In design
Photoshop is used for editing our
photos and putting our front
cover , contents page and article
together , We use it to put text on
the page .As our images have a
plain background it is easy to cut
out the image using the magnetic
tool. In design is almost like photo
shop but it is used to put your
graphics and texts all together ,
How you want , It helps you with
the layout you want.
