Dear KG2 Students,
Starting First Grade is a unique experience. It can be a bit scary at first like any
new beginning, but we want you to know that you can count on us to help
you.

After spending a whole year in first grade, we have become experts and will
share with you what we have experienced this year through this book All You

Around the School
      A First Grade
       Classroom
In a first grade
classroom, you will
find desks, a screen
and a white board.
There is a radio, a CD
player and a kidney
table. There is also a
carpet for our
morning meeting and
there are cubbies. In
Grade 1, there are
kind teachers.
Snack Area
Some kids eat in the
classroom. Some eat
outside in the snack
area. There you will find
a big counter and some
round tables.
 During snack time, you
need to be quiet the
first five minutes so you
will have time to eat
your snack. You also
need to chew with your
mouth closed.
The Library
In the library you will
find many books. There
are also
bookshelves, chairs and
tables.
There is one lady who
will scan your books.
When she is finished
, you will walk a little
bit to the right, turn and
go forward and you will
see lots of chairs and
tables. You will go and
sit and read your books
until library time is up.
Bathrooms
The bathrooms are
outside the classroom.
There are two. One for
the boys and one for the
girls. The boys’ bathroom
is on the left and the girls’
bathroom is on the right.
In each bathroom, you will
find 4 sinks.
The girl’s bathroom has 3
toilet seats while the boy’s
bathroom has four toilet
seats.
The Music Room
The Music room is
right next to the
classroom. It is big
and has many
instruments. There
are also chairs to
sit on and carpets.
The drums are a
lot of fun.
The Green Field
The green field has a
a big soccer field, and
a basketball court.
You will go there on
Day 3 and sometimes
Day 1.
There are many
soccer balls and
basketballs and it is
all grass.
Playgrounds
There are 2
playgrounds
The first one is the
elementary
playground. It has
two slides, a monkey
bar, a dome and a
sandpit. You can also
play soccer there.
The second one is the
Nursery Playground
but you don’t use
that.
The Roof
Sometimes our P.E.
Teacher takes us to the
roof. You can play many
games such as
basketball, gymnastics, tet
her ball, and soccer.

It is very exciting but you
have to be careful not to
make any one sad.
At times, there will be
older kids playing on the
roof as well.
Birthdays
You can celebrate
your birthday in the
classroom.
Usually, you bring
cupcakes or a cake.

• Secondly, you go to the librarian
and wait in line to check out your

• Then you sit down and read it
     quietly. When the teacher says:
“One two three, eyes on me”, you
line up. You carry your books to
     the classroom. Don't let your
     books fall down.

something we have
done the day before.
