The document discusses the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to analyze the flow behavior and heat transfer characteristics in a shell and helical coil heat exchanger. The CFD analysis is validated through experiments on a physical model. Various parameters including coil pitch, inlet velocity, and temperature are varied to understand their impact on heat transfer performance. Optimizing these parameters through CFD and experimental analysis can improve heat exchanger design.
