44. It is coming from the heart. It is coming from the land. It is a soul instrument. You feel it. It is the sound of Mother Earth. www.aboriginalart.com.au The Didgeridoo
45. The Dreamtime They say we have been here for 40,000 years, but it is much longer. We have been here since time began. We have come directly out of the Dreamtime of our creative ancestors. We have kept the earth as it was on the first day. Our culture is focused on recording the origins of life. We refer to forces and powers that created the world as creative ancestors. Our beautiful world has been created only in accordance with the power, wisdom, and intentions of our ancestral beings. I prepared this presentation for use on 18 July 2007 at the NUA Summer Academy and am posting it on the NUA website (www.nuatc.org) for use by those who attended that Academy. You have my permission to use this presentation in your classroom work. I can’t give you permission to publish it because permission has not been granted to use some of the photos and sounds. Please note that the audio buttons throughout (animal and didg sounds) won”t work unless you have the relevant audio file on your hard drive. I’ll email those sounds to you as mp3 files if you email me a request. Also: the “banner” across the top of the slides represents the flag of indigenous Australia—a detail I neglected to mention during the presentation.
