Its predecessors were:
 Westfälische Berggewerkschaftskasse (WBK), Bochum, established in 1864
 Versuchsgrubengesellschaft mbH, Dortmund, established in 1927
 Bergbauforschung GmbH, Essen, established in 1958
Services:
Independent technology services in testing, certification, consulting, planning,
engineering, measuring, research and development
