- Well Hello! Thanks for taking the time to check out KILLER QUOTES! The presentation all about quotes from the tobacco industry. We’re going to go INSIDE on a bunch of secret documents the tobacco industry tried to keep from the public but we found a way to get a hold of. Let’s start out with a quick activity.
- I know most class periods people tell you to put your cell phones away, but not this time! If you take your phone out, and text killerquote to 67463, it will text you back a quote from the tobacco industry. Read some of the quotes that you’ve gotten already.
- This is a photo from the tobacco document repository in Minnesota. This is just one aisle, of millions of pages of documents. There are approximately 40 million pages of documents in this repository. We got these documents when the state of Minnesota sued the tobacco industry in 1996, and won! So now we can search through all their old documents, and reveal the truth.
- This is a quote from an RJR executive, his company makes camel cigarettes. Someone asked him, do you use your own product, he replied with this quotes. “We don’t smoke [it]. We just sell it. We reserve the right to smoke for the young, the poor, the black and the stupid.”

- This article is terribly interesting, it talks about Philip Morris “tobacco ninjas”. Tobacco ninjas are people Philip Morris hired to promote their product secretly. (Read through document) They are meeting, just like we’re meeting here, but for the exact opposite purpose.
- The next two documents talk about smoking in movies, and the tobacco industry paid certain actors to smoke certain kinds of cigarettes.
- If you read this document it says they would pay Sly Stallone $250,000 to smoke in 5 movies. That’s a whole lot of CASH!
