Definition of Accident
“Accident" means a sudden, unforeseen, and involuntary
event caused by external, visible and violent means.
 “Injury” means accidental physical bodily harm excluding
illness or disease solely and directly caused by external,
violent and visible and evident means which is verified and
certified by a Medical Practitioner.


Payment of compensation in the unfortunate event of
Insured Person‟s death caused by accidental bodily injury,
within 12 months of happening of such an accident.

Definition - Permanent Total Disability


“Permanent Total Disablement” means a bodily injury
caused by accidental, external, violent and visible means,
 which as a direct consequence thereof totally disables and prevents the Insured

Person from :
- attending to any business or occupation of any and every kind or
- if he/she has no business or occupation, from attending to his/her usual and
normal duties
that last for a continuous period of twelve calendar months from the date of the
accident, with no hopes of improvement at the end of that period.



Payment of compensation in the event of an accidental bodily
injury leading to the total and irrecoverable loss of:
 sight of both eyes, physical separation of two entire hands or feet, or of one entire hand and





foot, or sight of one eye and use of one entire hand or foot
use of two hands or two feet, or of one hand and one foot, or sight of one eye and use of one
hand or one foot
Total paralysis
Loss of all fingers and both thumbs OR loss of arm - at shoulder; between shoulder and
elbow ; at and below elbow OR Loss of legs - at hip; between knee and hip ; below knee
Permanent total and absolute disablement disabling the Insured Person from engaging in any
employment or occupation

11 Place - date

Definition - Permanent Partial
Disability


“Permanent Partial Disablement” means a bodily injury
which as a direct consequence thereof, disables any part of
the limbs or organs of the body of the Insured person and
which falls into one of the categories listed in the Scale of
Benefits Table.



Payment of compensation for bodily injury caused by
accident, resulting in Permanent Partial Disablement within
12 (twelve) calendar months of occurrence of such injury.

Definition – Temporary Total
Disablement


“Temporary Total Disablement” means a bodily injury
 which as a direct consequence thereof totally disables and prevents the Insured

Person f
- From attending to any business or occupation of any and every kind or
- if he/she has no business or occupation, from attending to his/her usual and
normal duties
that lasts temporarily for a certain period within twelve calendar months from the
date of the accident.

Coverage - Temporary Total Disability






Payment of compensation for bodily injury caused by accident and
resulting in Temporary Total Disablement.
Such an injury prevents the Insured Person from attending to his/her
business or occupation temporarily.
Compensation shall be payable for the temporary period for which
the Insured Person suffers from total disablement due to accidental
bodily injury.
The benefit under this Section is limited payment of compensation
for 104 weeks and upto the limit of Sum Insured specified.

This Policy offers the following free benefits, in case of a
valid claim under the „Accidental Death‟ Section:
 Transportation of Mortal Remains: Allowance equivalent to 1% of SI towards

expenses incurred for transporting the dead body.
 Funeral Expenses: Allowance towards expenses incurred for funeral in the case
of accidental death
 Education Grant for Children: Payment of a fixed allowance of Rs. 10,000 per
dependent child (for a maximum of 2 dependent children) upto the age of 23
years pursuing studies

Hospital Daily Cash Allowance


Payment of a fixed allowance per day of hospitalisation
treatment in India for accidental bodily injury
 This is applicable if the hospitalisation exceeds a 2 days

Accidental Medical Expenses




Reimbursement of actual medical expenses incurred in India
following medical treatment for bodily injury, caused by an
accident
“Medical expenses” means those expenses that an Insured
Person has necessarily and actually incurred for medical
treatment on account of Illness or Accident on the advice of a
Medical Practitioner, as long as these are no more than would
have been payable if the Insured Person had not been insured and
no more than other hospitals or doctors in the same locality would
have charged for the same medical treatment. It includes,






the costs of a bed;
treatment and care by medical staff;
medical procedures,
Medical Practitioner’s / Consultants fees,
medicines and consumables including cost of pacemaker, cost of organs, artificial limbs etc.

as long as these are recommended by the attending Medical
Practitioner

Double Benefit for Death or Permanent
Total Disablement


Payment of Double Indemnity , i.e.



200% of the sum insured covered under section 1
200% of the sum insured covered section 2 of the benefit schedule

in case of Permanent Total Disablement, due to bodily
injury, caused by an accident while the Insured is traveling
as a passenger in a public conveyance

Legal Expenses


Payment of legal costs and expenses incurred, with the
consent of the Company by the Insured Person or the legal
representative of the Insured Person towards claims for
compensation for death or disablement arising due to an
accidental bodily injury

Exclusions

Death or disablement caused by,aggravated or prolonged by child
birth or from pregnancy
Compensation under more than one of the foregoing Clauses in
respect of the same period of disablement except the Add-on
covers.
Any payment in case of more than one claim under the Policy
during any one period of insurance by which the maximum liability
of the Company in that period would exceed the sum payable
under the Section I, II, III or IV of the Policy.


This would not apply to payments made under Add-on covers, education grant
and expenses for transportation of mortal remains.

Exclusions


Any claim in respect of accidental death or permanent disablement
of the Insured/Insured Persons.








from intentional self-injury, suicide or attempted suicide
whilst under the influence of liquor or drugs or other intoxicants
whilst engaging in adventure activities
directly or indirectly, caused by venereal disease, AIDS or insanity
arising or resulting from the Insured/Insured Person committing any breach of law
or participating in an actual or attempted felony, riot, crime or civil commotion
 whilst engaging in racing, hunting, mountaineering, ice hockey, winter sports.

Any claim arising out war and war like operations as well as
nuclear perils.
