Faculty at both schools showed their appreciation for this module and reported that it provided good KAS for students. They reported that they could also improve or update their own knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention and substance abuse. This is especially true for young teachers of both medical schools, who found such updates and improvements very enjoyable, innovative and practical.

The success of this module is demonstrated not only by how much knowledge the students gain on HIV/AIDS prevention and substance abuse but more importantly in their improved skills and changing attitude. Students now feel confident in their counseling skills, which they could use to protect themselves and advise their family, friends, and neighbors. Talking to HIV/AIDS and addicted people at community practicum sites helped students gain a sympathetic view of these vulnerable groups and to not discriminate against them. Practice time in the hospital was not effective for medical students because of the large number of medical students allocated to each practice time leaving the students with significantly fewer opportunities for practice.

  • 16. Faculty at both schools showed their appreciation for this module and reported that it provided good KAS for students. They reported that they could also improve or update their own knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention and substance abuse. This is especially true for young teachers of both medical schools, who found such updates and improvements very enjoyable, innovative and practical.

The success of this module is demonstrated not only by how much knowledge the students gain on HIV/AIDS prevention and substance abuse but more importantly in their improved skills and changing attitude. Students now feel confident in their counseling skills, which they could use to protect themselves and advise their family, friends, and neighbors. Talking to HIV/AIDS and addicted people at community practicum sites helped students gain a sympathetic view of these vulnerable groups and to not discriminate against them. Practice time in the hospital was not effective for medical students because of the large number of medical students allocated to each practice time leaving the students with significantly fewer opportunities for practice.
