10. PARADE
Float Entries
Float Dimensions Large Small
Maximum Width 9 Feet 6 Feet
Maximum Length 16 Feet 8 Feet
Maximum Height 10 Feet 10 Feet
There are two categories for floats; small and large. You
need to indicate the size of your float on your parade entry
form.
Sizes above are measured from skirt to skirt of the trailer.
11. PARADE
Float Entries
Floats need to arrive at the Parade Start location
(Maney Ave. & Roberts Ave.) at 8:00 am. If entries
are not in place by 8:15 am, entry receives a 5 point
penalty. For every additional 15 minutes, 5 more
points will be deducted.
Members are not allowed to ride on floats during the
parade. (This is a HUGE liability… let’s not do that.)
Have a sober driver.
Have a fire extinguisher on board. You are not
allowed in parade without it.

No cost to your organization!
Organization may walk, decorate a car or truck, carry banners
Floats need to arrive at the Parade Start location (Maney Ave. &
Roberts Ave.) at 8:00 am. If entries are not in place by 8:15 am, entry

14. PARADE
Non-Float Entries
Golf Carts are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We have reserved 20 for
student group use. 19 are still available!
Cost is $30 to rent a golf cart; due on September 20, 2013 at 4:30
Golf cart primary driver must be prepared to meet the Homecoming
Committee at 5:45 am on Saturday, October 5 to pick up the golf cart
at Floyd Stadium.
One driver and one passenger only
Decorating must not damage golf carts
Decorations must be removed at the end of parade
Have a sober driver
Be TRUE BLUE during parade!
15. CHILI COOK-OFF
Stones River Mall, October 1
Three divisions: Student Organizations, Alumni & Friends, Community
All entries must pay a $20 refundable deposit and a non-refundable fee
of $20 for supplies. MUST be two separate checks made out to MTSU
SGA.
All chili needs to be prepared prior to event; do not bring cold chili
Each group gets a 10x10 area to decorate. The more decorations the
better!
4 cook passes will be distributed beginning at 2:00 pm. No other
individuals allowed in booth areas until 5:00 pm.
Decorations and check in must be completed by 4:30 pm; judging
begins at 4:30 pm.
YOU MUST POST INGREDIENTS! You will receive a 15% point
deduction if you fail to do this.
Prepare 2 chafing dishes of chili. That is roughly 4 pounds.
16. BANNER & PIC COMPETITION
Due September 27 at 4:30 pm
If you are paired with another organization, only ONE banner / profile
pic will be accepted
Banners must-MUST- be 3x5 HORIZONTAL either professionally
made or painted on CANVAS (duck cloth). NO BED SHEETS
ACCEPTED. Must be completely dry before delivering to SGA.
Profile pics must be sent to sgahome@mtsu.edu.
17. HORSESHOE PURSUIT
October 3 from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Look for horseshoes on campus and bring any found to the SGA table
in the Student Union to begin accumulating points for your
organization.
YOU MAY NOT BEGIN SEARCHING FOR HORSESHOES UNTIL 8:00!
Any gold horseshoes may be taken to the bookstore for free swag!
You may post pictures of items you feel resemble horseshoes and post
them on Facebook and Twitter. Be sure to tag MTSU Homecoming in
order to get credit!
18. Paint the HALLS Blue
(Residence Halls, Departments, etc.)
Decorate department offices, residence halls to fit the Homecoming
theme.
Do not break fire code; blocking doors, fire extinguishers and alarms,
covering lights, etc.
Judging will take place beginning Friday, September 27 at 12:00
pm and will go through Tuesday, October 1. We will judge these as
soon as possible!
19. Paint the DOORS Blue
(Student Organization Advisor Doors)
Decorate your organization advisor’s door to promote homecoming
throughout campus departments!
Do not break fire code; blocking doors, fire extinguishers and alarms,
covering lights, etc.
Judging will take place beginning Friday, September 27 at 12:00
pm and will go through Tuesday, October 1. We will judge these as
soon as possible!
20. Paint the ROW Blue
(Greek Row including Global Learning Community)
Decorate fronts of houses using any means necessary.
Do not break fire code; blocking doors, fire extinguishers and alarms,
covering lights, etc.
Judging will take place beginning Friday, September 27 at 12:00
pm and will go through Tuesday, October 1. We will judge these as
soon as possible!
21. Paint the MALL Blue
(Stones River Mall)
Decorate a 10 foot are at the mall!
Do not break fire code; blocking doors, fire extinguishers and alarms,
covering lights, etc.
DO NOT use any materials that may damage the walls.
Judging will take place on Tuesday, October 1 at 5:00 pm during
Chili Cook-off! Winner will be announced the night of. WINNING
ORGANIZATION WINS $2,000 TO USE FOR THEIR ORGANIZATION!
