1. NJROTC Orientation Trip Itinerary
April 26 – 28, 2013
Parents,
This year we are taking a three day trip to visit the University of South Florida, MacDill Air Force
Base, The Tampa Aquarium, and Busch Gardens. Students will need enough spending money for
their meals (except breakfast) and incidentals. We think this will be a very enjoyable and
rewarding trip for the students that attend. Our students will be representing Bishop Kenny High
School and our NJROTC program so we expect them to dress conservatively and act accordingly
(as I know they will). On Friday they will need to wear their NJROTC Khaki Cargo Pants with
Yellow Navy PT shirt and comfortable shoes (NO sandals/flip flops etc.). On Saturday and Sunday
they will be allowed to wear jeans/slacks/ Red BK NJROTC T-shirt and comfortable shoes. If you
have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me or Master Chief Harris at (904) 398-7545 Ext
250. Letter for the students is on the back of the permission form.

2. Cadets,
This year we are taking a three day trip visit the The University of South Florida, MacDill Air Force
Base, The Tampa Aquarium, and Busch Gardens. The only meals that will be provided are breakfast on
Saturday and Sunday morning so make sure you bring enough spending money for your other meals and
incidentals. You will be representing Bishop Kenny High School and our NJROTC program so the Master
Chief and I expect you to be on your best behavior. Dress conservatively (nothing too tight or too short).
All male cadets will be expected to meet our NJROTC grooming standards. (i.e. haircuts and shaves). We
expect you to be respectful to everyone, leave your hotel room in the same condition that you found it, and
have a good time. You will be responsible for paying for ANY damage to the hotel rooms, so no “horsing”
around. You are not allowed to leave your hotel room after curfew unless an emergency exists and/or
escorted by one of our chaperones. Also, you are never allowed to leave your hotel room unless completely
dressed (i.e., no going to breakfast in your pajamas). Curfew / Lights out is 11:00 p.m. each night (no
extraneous noise coming from your room). There will be a brief meeting after school on Thursday April
25th. You must attend! You will be given a listing of chaperone cell phone numbers and all cadets
attending cell phone numbers. Please make sure you program these numbers into your Cell Phone.
The Chaperones for this trip, in addition to the Master Chief and me, will be Mrs. Maribel Pumarejo
and possibly two others to be named later. Follow their instructions at all times! Nothing else will be
tolerated! At NO time will you travel around in groups of less than three people. At NO time will boys be in
a girl’s room and vice versa (unless accompanied by one of our chaperones).
Lastly, the bus will remain clean at all times. Trash bags will be distributed and used. If you violate
this or any of the other rules, you will spend the remainder of the trip with the Master Chief or me. We
particularly like the shows at Busch Gardens and although we’d like your company, I think you will have a
much better time on the rides—so don’t break our rules!
Dress for Friday. NJROTC Khaki Cargo Pants & Yellow Navy PT shirt and a pair of comfortable
shoes / tennis shoes (NO Flip Flops, Sandals, Clogs, open toed or backless shoes).
Dress for Saturday & Sunday. Either Slacks or a nice pair of Jeans (i.e., a pair without any holes
etc.); Red NJROTC T-Shirt Saturday & Collared Shirt (Sunday), windbreaker (optional) and a pair of
comfortable shoes / tennis shoes (NO Flip Flops, Sandals, Clogs, open toed or backless shoes). This is a
safety issue, especially at Busch Gardens.
Additional Items to Bring: Toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, a razor and shaving cream (for
male cadets who shave), windbreaker, a couple pairs of socks, underwear / shorts / gym shorts to sleep in
etc. Cell Phone and charger. If you require any medications make sure you bring them, along with a note
from your parents about the medication and the frequency of use. School Books for homework (10 hours on
bus there and back).
It is tradition that when we return to school after a trip all Freshman Cadets remain on the bus to
ensure that all the trash is picked up and removed and that nothing is left behind. No “whining” as next
year this responsibility will go to the new freshman class.
