This document discusses various strategies and technologies for improving energy efficiency as outlined in Lester Brown's book Plan B 3.0. It highlights wind and solar energy as abundant and economical sources that can be harnessed through technologies like helical turbines and solar thermal collectors. It also mentions initiatives in countries like the UK to deal with energy crises and calls on US citizens to participate in energy efficiency efforts through changes like improved home technologies that could make the world better in decades to come.

1. Energy Efficiency
“Using less energy to provide the
same level of energy service”

2. Workers roll tarps over a glacier on the
Zugspitze mountain to help prevent summer
melting. We do need to wait for future
temperature rises to see that we are in
trouble. This picture calls for a crash
program to cut down carbon emission.

energy efficiency and productivityquot; and sidewalks in an effort to reduce carbon
emissions and to reduce our dependency for
foreign oil”
Considering the above two ideas means moving towards Lester Brown’s
Plan B and this is a good sign that at least we are trying to act now.

In his book Plan B 3.0, Brown says that wind , being the most abundant, low cost
and widely distributed makes it the center piece of Plan B
5. Solar thermal collectors simply convert light into infrared energy (heat energy).
Efficiency levels reach levels as high as 75%, which proves to be economically
when utilized in commercial and residential solar hot water systems. Brown also
says that with the cost of rooftop water and space heating systems declining,
most countries will join in mandating that all new buildings incorporate rooftop
water and space heaters.
