The Family Does Matter By Brandon Goode and Ryan Salinas
The home is a familiar place for most everyone. It is a place usually thought of fondly. In the home security and happiness are found. It provides a place in which to grow and learn; a place where critical thinking, critical reading, and critical action can take place.
However, in today’s world, divorce statistics are up, more children are being raised by single parents, and sometimes left to fend for themselves. The idea of the warm home in which good values are fostered is being annihilated.
Families Worldwide FWW was first established in 1972 as The Cottage Program International. Frist created to help families who had drug and other serious problems. “After a national search, The Families in Focus Program (as this family-strengthening program was then called) was selected as one of the top 25 programs for parenting and family management in the United States. It also became the "United Nations Handbook Choice" in 1994, the UN Year of the Family. The program has enriched over 30,000 families in various countries throughout the world.” In 1996 Brad Stone and Mark Strong became the Chairman and C.E.O. “Mr. Stone and Mr. Strong changed the name of the organization to Families Worldwide to better reflect the universal application of the family-strengthening work.”
The mission of Families Worldwide is to strengthen families through programs based on six principles which help form the benchmark of strong families. Mission
Program: Solutions for Families A book and in-home program based on research which focuses on six relationship-building and family-strengthening areas: Kindness Commitment Communication Choices Well-Being Spirituality.

Need in the Community “There is an increasing realization that the strength of a nation is reflected in the strength of its families. We are dedicated to strengthening relationships at home by teaching principles of truth, which lead to individual and family happiness.” "No Other Success Can Compensate For Failure in the Home" David O. McKay
Foundation for Critical Thinking “Critical thinking is essential if we are to get to the root of our problems and develop reasonable solutions. After all, the quality of everything we do is determined by the quality of our thinking.” The Foundation for Critical Thinking is all about the metacognitive approach to life. These two foundation when working together could help many families, novice or experienced, to think of the ways their family can have joy.
The Connection Foundation for Critical Thinking Families Worldwide “Teaching families correct principles and providing them with practical skills increases their capacity to strengthen family bonds and to lead happy, productive lives. Strong families build strong individuals, and those individuals build the kind of world we all dream of.” “Critical thinking requires the cultivation of core intellectual virtues such as intellectual humility, perseverance, integrity, and responsibility.” “In a world of accelerating change, intensifying complexity, and increasing interdependence, critical thinking is now a requirement for economic and social survival. Join us as we strive to make critical thinking a core social value and a key organizing concept for all educational reform.”
The Connection (cont’d) Both Families Worldwide and The Foundation for Critical Thinking are determined to make the world a better place. In essence, Families Worldwide teaches principles which promote critical thinking. By funding Families Worldwide, not only will families benefit, but the community as a whole. The future is now. The future lies in what we do with the world’s families.
Critical Thinking The Solutions for Families program involves critical thinking by encouraging families to evaluate their own problems. Through critical thinking they find ways to solve their problems to bring more harmony in their family circle. This program uses critical thinking by inviting families to transform their thinking about how they act and treat each other on a daily basis.
Critical Action The process they go through in order to enhance family harmony helps them to utilize those same skills and principles in everyday life; to influence the community around them. Through transforming their old habits, they are able to understand one another and be vigilant at doing what is right.
Critical Reading This foundation demonstratescritical reading through it’s book wherein this program is found. In order to explicate the information for the maximum benefit for the family, critical reading must be applied.
Help us make Families a Priority!!! Thank you!!!
