Student Name and Number:
Brett Collins - 372677
Project proposal title and date:
Title in progress. Sep - Nov
Main area of activity
In this project I will be making a fanzine. With this topic I will be focussing on print which
is what I specialise in.
Target Audience
My target audience is 16-24 males who have an interest in photography.
Rationale:
Throughout this year and the back end of last year I have learnt a lot and gained a lot
more skills within my speciality, print. In the end of last year, I did my fmp which was
also print. I did a clothing a brand and made the clothing and all the advertisements, I
also made a magazine. With spending a lot of time creating these products it’s really
helped me to improve my photoshop skills, learning new tricks and getting a lot faster
with the creation itself. This will help me a lot in this project because I will also be using
photoshop to create my fanzine and it means I can create my work faster and to a higher
standard. At the start of this year, we did pair work which we had to make an adult’s
style children’s book. In the project the production was also print, so I got to get back on
photoshop and have an early practice before starting my first proper project. This will
help me with my fanzine because I will not be rusty when it comes to production.
Project Concept:
my concept for this project is to do a fanzine about photography. My fanzine will include
12 pages including the front and back cover. These pages will include an interview from
an upper coming London photographer who I’ve been in contact with through family
connections. Also, the pages will have photographs from the certain photographer with
his permission.it also will have photos from certain genres, my fanzine is going to focus
on the artistic and skate photography because these are my favourite genres and I focus
on these genres when I’m taking my photos. I will also be putting some of my photos in
my fanzine. The first ill need to research for my photography fanzine is interviews of
professionals in their profession this is to get a look at interview style and interview
techniques for when I do my interview. I will also be researching didn’t types of fanzines,
this is to have a look at the different layouts and styles from each one. Researching
different fanzine will help benefit my fanzine because I can gain inspiration and see what
individual things help make a good fanzine. Researching interviews will defiantly benefit
my interview because I can gain more of an understanding on what makes a good
interview.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed?
I will evaluate by taking screen shots to show my progress of the product at the end. I
will evaluate my work by making a list of the pro and cons and the improvements I can
do for next time yet also the things I have done well this time round.

Week Specific Tasks
1 Production [in/out?] I’m going to start of with creating my front cover.
2 Production [in/out?] I’m going to write the interview out and cut it down.
3 Production [in/out?] I’m going to imbed the interview alongwith matching
photos into the fanzine.
4 Production [in/out?] I’m going to be creatingthe back cover.
Be aware which of those weeks are in or out of college,as you may need to plan different tasks around other
work when workingremotely. Budget for approximately 30 hours for production – which is roughly two weeks
of your in-collegetime.
