Parking ( segregated VIP parking)
• Total existing site area is 24 acres. Constructed during year 2001. hall 2 & 3 are
connected in case if an exhibition require more space two halls are utilized.
• Hall 3 is connected with the convention block.
• Convention center consists of VVIP rooms and lobby, VIP lobby, service lobby,
reception lobby, VIP rooms, Green rooms, media room, banquet hall, main
convention hall, board room and meeting room.
• The convention center is designed by C R Narayan Rao.
• The Chennai trade center is managed by TAMIL NADU TRADE PROMOTE
ORGANISATION (TNTPO).

CHENNAI TRADE CENTER
• Parking capacity of 2000 car parks.
• Service trench is provided in floor level of exhibition halls for water, drainage,
compressed air and telephone lines.
• False ceiling is provided with electrical lines, false ceiling light and centralized
AC.
• Banking facilities also available inside the site.
• Food court is provided during the event times and no adequate rooms for stay
and refresh.
• Every hall has entry/exit on four sides along with 2 loading/unloading bay.
CONVENTION CENTER - PLAN
CHENNAI TRADE CENTER
• Chennai trade center has its own sewage treatment plant inside the site.
• In Exhibition hall, heavy duty concrete flooring is laid to withstand huge
machinery and roof height is 6m.
• The Exhibition product are brought through service roads and transport vehicles
are directly brought inside the building.
• In convention center, the multipurpose hall has a capacity of 3000 audience and
the hall can be partitioned base on the convention meeting.
• Hall 3 is connected with the convention center but no separate access to VIPs.
• The convention block does not have separate entry and separate lobby for VIPs.

DEFECTS IN EXISTING BUILDING
• Convention block – no separate VIP Entrance, VIP lobby and no private rooms.
• No proper facilities for staff
• The exhibition space is done with the context of temple style and the style of
the building is 2 decades old.
• VIP Parking is accessible along the service road.
• For most of the event hall 2 is used as food court and no VIP entrance to all
halls.
• No proper service lobby for exhibition space.
• There is no proper expression over the building as convention cum exhibition
space.
• The hall 3 and the convention block is connected by a path and no separate path
for VIPs and VVIPs
• Lack of Modern Facilities.
• Not energy efficient and water efficient like other convention centers and may
also affect health.

A Convention centre is a space where a group of business people gather and
interact about similar topics and interests.
Exhibition is space where business products, arts, tech are exhibited for the
general public as well as business people.
AIM
To design a commercial successful convention cum exhibition centre thereby
improving the international trade and attract local, national and international
crowd.
OBJECTIVE
• To promote a platform for various industries and companies to bring their
ideas to the world wide and spread awareness to the public.
• Integrating current technology in the field and plan for future growth.
• To attract public and Business people in national and international level.
SCOPE OF WORK
Why convention cum exhibition center?
To encourage business trade.
To promote Indian product to foreign market.
• Create awareness about the latest product and technology in the market
• Helps the business men to analyse the interest of general public toward the
product and to improve business
• To attract local, national and international trade business.
