2. THE CONTROL THEORY IS OFF BASE
• It’s not about control
• It’s about teaching students in the best ways we can today
• It’s about making them independent and holding them
accountable
• It’s about doing right by them and teaching them to make the
most of what is available to them
3. WHY SHOULD WE USE IT?
• Students have access to
material to review as many
times as they need. This
serves the students well.
4. STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
• Student engagement is directly linked
to learning. Students learn more when
they are engaged.
Learning? Not what you want them to
learn!
5. DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
• In monitor, you can see if students are
practicing something incorrectly and send
them a tutorial, message, etc. without
exposing them.
• You can also enrich without drawing
attention.
• Let’s do it……
6. UNDERLINE THE SUBJECT ONCE AND THE VERB
TWICE:
• Homecoming week is wacky.
• I grade papers until late in the night.
• Are you going to the game on Friday?
8. TAKE THEM OUT OF THE CLASSROOM
• Virtual Field Trip of your choice
9. SEND THEM OUT TO RESEARCH A TOPIC…..
• You can determine where they can and can’t go on the web….a virtual scavenger
hunt.
• Predetermine the sites and set them up in the session.
• Give the students the things you want them to find, and they search within the
parameters you’ve set for them.
• This teaches them to find the information in a way other than just entering a search
in Google and taking the link they find as the golden ticket.
11. GET STUDENTS’ ATTENTION
• When students are busy
working and you want them
to stop and listen to
you…you can do so with a
click of a button…watch…
12. GO AS TECHNICAL AS YOU LIKE
Grab student work to grade
Monitor and send students specific documents and videos
Showcase student work by grabbing their slide and
broadcasting it to everyone
Take Polls …even record your voice
13. OR USE THE BASICS
• Deliver information
• Have students review at home
• Embed and link material
