1. Space, Science and
Astronomy in primary school
Open the Gates to the Universe,
eTwinning project,
winner of Marie Curie Annual prize 2017
2. About the project...
Partners from Romania, Poland, Portugal, Cyprus
and Moldova
The students discovered different
aspects of Space Science and
Astronomy, working on the topic in
English. They explored some aspects
of Science included in their
curriculum, working in international
groups.
3. Romania
By working on this topic, our students are aware of the world
around them; they think, learn and experiment with new STEM concepts
Project based learning brings school closer to reality :)
4. PolandStudents with big
interest learnt about
astronauts and about
living abroad the
International Space
Station.
Each partner uploaded
documents about
famous astronauts and
astronomers.
We use the Internet to
watch alive what’s
going on in the Space.
5. Our Solar System, Our Galaxy
Our students were able
1. To acquire knowledge of special vocabulary relative
to our galaxy and our solar system
2. To recognize and name the planets of our system
3. To learn interesting facts and numbers about the
planets of our solar system, the sun, the moon
4. To use their knowledge in different lessons maths,
science, art, english, music, physical education
5. To come in dialogue with expertise
6. To get in touch ornaments that help us study the
galaxy and make our own explorations

8. Conclusions
The project 'started where the children were', it was build on the ideas children
brought with them to lessons and helped them to develop their understanding of
scientific concepts related to the Universe. It helped them to understand the
diversity of weather conditions and their responsibility for the environment.
