Work Flow. This is one of the most important elements of success. Contract points require us to provide preliminary findings to the facilities within 24 hours of the exam and it takes an additional 24 hours from there to get the final reports to you by email. Under the current system, we do this, but it is a great challenge simply because we spend so much time moving the materials from place to place—from the facility to the office to the radiologist to the transcriptionist and back to the facility. That can be a long haul, especially if we don’t get them to the reader until the next morning…then we only have a few hours, at best, to get your results out. With this system, all exams will be provided to the radiologist within 10 minutes to 6 hours (at the outside). When we switch to the web-based application, not only will the results reach the facility much faster, but the doctors will be able to request a true “stat” reading in the digital arena and we will be able to have a reading to the facility within 2 hours or less, depending upon how long it takes the tech to get off the facility grounds to upload the image so the radiologist can read it. As for the specifics of the flow, our tech may only come to a facility once or twice each week to take x-rays, but the doctors on-site are ordering exams everyday. With this new system, the facility staff can log in to the site ANY time they wish and request an exam which will give TCX better notice of which facilities need service and allow us to prepare in advance for the upcoming scheduled visit.
The exam is then placed in queue for service on the Active Patient Log where they will wait for the tech to complete them.
The tech will access the Active Patient List and complete all of the requested exams. If the tech is allowed real time access to the website inside the facility he or she will access the list there—if last minute exams need to be added, the staff or tech can add them—once completed the tech “checks” and sends them to the radiologist, they can be read and reported on within minutes.
After technician uploads x-rays it comes under Radiologist’s Active Patient List. Clicking on the patient name link will open report section where Radiologist can view the Patient Details along with thumbnails.Upon clicking on the Thumbnail from the report section it plays the x-ray in the respective player.Radiologist ‘s Views the X-rays modality wise either in CINE as a set of images playing continuously or as a movie frame.
The results are posted on-line in the form of an electronic report that can be printed for the paper trail. These reports are permanently attached to the images embedded in the patient record. They are available at the click of a button to authorized staff, so you never have to “look” for reports again. This, to me, is a big plus since we receive so many calls each day from various facilities that cannot locate old reports or even current ones.In Completed Patient List Facility Person can send Patient Details as an email.Facility person can transfer patients from one facility to another by giving the Patient’s Id in the search field. After getting the information the facility name has to be chosen from the drop down list for a successful transfer.
