Machin’s track and field career began when she was doing her Grade 9 year at Cardinal Newman School . She started
off by taking a liking to high jump and as a result, received recommendations from gym teachers to try out for track
and field. However, her international track career only started taking off in earnest with the World Youth
Championships that were held in Bressanone, Italy in 2009.
The track star’s main ambition at present is to make as many national teams as possible between now and the Rio
2016 Olympic Games. From here, she aims to qualify to be a part of the Canadian Olympic Team so that she can
represent her country at the highest level possible.
