2. Introduction
Following the tragic death of Cristian
Rivera due to diffuse intrinsic pontine
glioma (DIPG), the Cristian Rivera
Foundation was established. The
foundation, along with its volunteers
and committee members like Carlos
Keyes, aims to find a cure for the
disease and provide help and comfort
to DIPG families.
3. About Cristian Rivera Foundation
In line with its goals, the foundation
pledged its support to Dr. Mark
Souweidane’s clinical trial. A
neurosurgeon and director of the Weill
Cornell Pediatric Brain and Spine
Center, Dr. Souweidane will be
launching an FDA-approved
therapeutic approach to treating DIPG.
This therapy involves the
administration of radio immunotherapy
to children diagnosed with the
disease.
4. Conclusion
Cristian Rivera Foundation operates
through the generosity of its donors
and the efforts of its volunteers and
committee members like Carlos Keyes
and Aldo Marin, who invest their time
free of charge. Aside from
donations, the foundation organizes
an annual gala event to raise funds
and further DIPG research.
