What: Inter-City Visit 2022 (ICV) Delegation Orientation
When: Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 4:00pm-5:30pm
Where: Chapel Hill Public Library, 100 Library Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (Meeting Room B)
Logistics: This is an in-person event. Free and convenient parking is available in the adjoining lots. Light refreshments will be provided. Attire is business casual.
Why: This 90-minute orientation will give Delegates an overview of the ICV 2022 learning objectives and agenda, and introduce delegates to one another and the technologies that will power our experience (Groupme and GuideBook). It is recommended that every delegate attend.

• What: Inter-City Visit and Leadership Conference (ICV 2022)
• Who: The delegation includes ~70 local business, government, nonprofit,
and education leaders
• When: Monday, Oct 24, 2022, through Wednesday, October 26, 2022
• Where: Asheville with a stop in Winston-Salem, NC
• Why: To learn from the experiences of another community, better
understand our own community assets, and build relationships among
each other to help us address our local challenges
• How: The delegation will enjoy presentations, tours, receptions, and
experiential learning activities

24. Agenda: Day 1
Day 1: On Monday morning (Oct 24), the delegation will head to Winston-Salem to tour their
Innovation Quarter and meet with local leaders on strategies for accelerating innovation and
entrepreneurship. In the afternoon, the delegation will head west where we will begin our
Asheville portion of the conference with relationship-building activities and a joint reception
with Asheville leaders at the Governor's Western Residence sponsored by MHAworks. We will
conclude our first day with small-group discussions throughout downtown, organized around
our learning objectives.
25. Agenda: Day 2
Day 2: The delegation will kick off on Tuesday (Oct 25) with a breakfast activity sponsored by
Chapel Hill Transit and then a tour of Downtown Asheville with discussions on redevelopment
strategies, housing, community land use planning, and public infrastructure. After lunch
downtown, we will engage in a panel discussion on education and workforce development with
a focus on improving outcomes and student success. Late afternoon, delegates will choose
their own experience sponsored by Coastal Credit Union (selecting from a curated list of fun
activities and things to explore that bring conference learning objectives to life). The
delegates willconclude Day 2 with a celebratory dinner in an Asheville hotspot.

27. Agenda: Day 3
Day 3: On Wednesday morning (Oct 26), the delegation will focus on housing affordability
and innovative affordable housing strategies. Afterwards, the delegation will tour the Asheville
River Arts District followed by a discussion on business and talent attraction and retention. The
delegation will learn about how Asheville differentiates itself from competitors and uses
storytelling to market and promote itself and the region. We will conclude with a wrap up
session and board the bus for a smooth and easy drive home.
