He was born in 1955 and grew up in Indiana. 2) He has had a long legal career, including clerking for Chief Justice William Rehnquist and working in the White House under President Ronald Reagan. 3) He was first nominated to the federal bench by President George H.W. Bush in 1992 and later nominated by President George W. Bush to be Chief Justice in 2005, making him the youngest Chief Justice since John Marshall.
