3. Structure of the role play situation The children work in groups of three of four. Each child is assigned a role, for example, there will be one waiter or waitress and the remaining pupils will be the customers who come to the restaurant. Over a period of time, the children have studied the role play dialogues in order to understand how language and registers are used in different social situations. The children are also aware of the types of body language which should be used in the situation and how to make people feel welcome.

6. Dialogue Waiter: Good evening. Customers 1 & 2: Good evening. Waiter: How can I help you? Customer 1: Can we have a table for two, please? Waiter: Yes, of course. Where would you like to sit? Here ( point to table ) or over there by the window? Customer 2: Here would be lovely. Thank you. ( Customers remove coats and sit down ) Waiter: You´re welcome. I´ll bring you some menus. Customers 1&2: That´s great, thanks. Waiter: Here you are (give menus to the customers ). Would you like a drink? Customer 1: Yes please. Can I have a glass of fizzy water? Waiter: Sure. And for you? ( look at customer 2 ) Customer 2: I´ll have the same, thanks. Waiter: Here you go. ( Serve drinks ) Are you ready to order now? Customer 1: Yes, I think we are. 7. 15 minutes later... Waiter: Here you are ( serve plates to customers ). I hope you enjoy your meal. Customers 1 & 2: Thank you very much. 30 minutes later... Waiter: Have you finished? Customer 1: Yes we have. Customer 2: The meal was delicious! Waiter: Would you like some coffee or dessert? ( Remove plates from table ) Customer 1: No thank you. Customer 2: Can we just have the bill? Waiter: Of course. Here you are. Customer 1: Here you go (give money to waiter). Customers 1&2: Thanks very much. Good night. Waiter: Goodbye!

19. Recipes for the Dishes Shepherd´s Pie Ingredients : Potatoes Oniones Carrots Peas Minced lamb Cheese Method : First chop potatoes and boil in a pot until they are soft. Add butter to the potatoes. In a pan with olive oil, fry onions, carrots and meat. Add peas and 100ml of water. Cook for 25minutes. Put the mixture into a large dish. Put the mashed potato on top and then add grated cheese to the top and put in the oven until it is crispy. Serve.

20. Baked Potato filled with Tuna and Cheese Ingredients : Large potatoes Onion Tuna Mayonnaise Cheese Butter Method : Wash potatoes in cold water. Drizzle with olive oil and rub with salt. Place the potatoes in the oven for 1 hour or until they are soft throughout. For the tuna mixture, place tuna in a bowl. Chop an onion into small pieces and mix together. Add mayonnaise. Cut open the potatoes and add butter and mix it into the potato. Add the tuna mixture and cover with cheese. Serve.
