 Freegan called people who use
alternative strategies for living based on
limited participation in the conventional
economy, and minimal resource
consumption.
 The community advocates Freegans,
generosity, social consciousness,
freedom, cooperation and sharing in
opposition to society based on
materialism, social apathy, competition,
conformity and greed.
 Freegan word derived from "free" (free) and vegan
(vegan). They are called "Vegans" those who avoid
the consumption of animal products or products
tested on animals in an effort to avoid causing harm.
The Freegans take this stance a step further by
recognizing that in a complex industrial economy of
mass production and motivated by profit, the abuse of
people, animals and the earth abound at all levels of
production (from acquisition of the subject premium,
production and transport) and that goes for almost
every single product we buy.
 The freengans employ a variety
of strategies for practical living
based on our principles:
EXPENSE CLAIM
As freegans, collect food
instead of buying to avoid
being cosumidores ourselves, to
politically challenge the
injustice of allowing vital
resources to be spent while
multitudes lack basic necessities
like food, clothing and shelter,
and reduce spending to be
inceneradoras stop to land and
which are located in poor
neighborhoods en masse (not
white) leading to high levels of
cancer and asthma.
