The student selected an answer thinking all alkene products would contain deuterium from the E2 reaction, but their answer was wrong. Upon reflection, the student now thinks the correct answer considers the effect of time on the reaction, with only some alkene products containing deuterium rather than all. The student is still unsure of the reasoning and is seeking an explanation.

thinking that all the alkenes obtained as products would ultimately contain deuterium but this
answer was worng. Please correct and explain your reasoning. Thank you!

I am.also getting the same answer.
According to my attempt, all the alkenes would certainly contain deuterium, but I think tbis
answer has considered the effect of time also.
