Humanistic therapy focuses on people's innate goodness and potential, believing problems stem from deviating from a positive path. Behavioral therapy replaces unhealthy behaviors with healthy ones through modification to treat issues like depression and ADHD. Cognitive therapy holds that thoughts dictate moods and focuses on substituting negative thoughts with positive ones before depressive moods occur, commonly for depression treatment.

Psychoanalysis is the most common form of
psychotherapy.
It relates back to Freud’s work and theories.
It is nick-named the “talk therapy.”
It is studying how the unconscious mind has influences
on the mind and behaviors of people.
Most commonly has relation to childhood experiences
playing a role in metal illness.

3. Humanistic Therapy
Humanistic Therapy was a response to
Psychoanalysis.
It focuses on the positive potential of
people, and that they are naturally good.
Problems were blamed on getting off the
“positive path.”
Any mental problem could be fixed by
personal growth and self actualization.

4. Behavioral Therapy
Behavioral therapy focuses on replacing the
unhealthy behaviors with healthy behaviors.
It is nick-named the behavior modification
therapy.
It can treat depression, ADD, ADHD, OCD, and
obesity.

5. Cognitive Therapy
Cognitive therapy is based on a person’s
thoughts leading to their moods.
It focuses on replacing negative thoughts
with positive thoughts before the negative
(depressive) mood sets in.
Cognitive therapy is most commonly used to
treat depression.
