10. Overview of Technology Web Conferencing Application (Adobe Connect) Often called the Virtual Classroom by Institute staff and students. Web conferencing software is used to conduct live meetings, training, or presentations via the Internet. In a web conference, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to other participants via the internet. Audio can be delivered in a variety of ways. We use one-to-many VoIP.
A web class is a cohort of students who are receiving their instruction by means of the internet. These students are granted access to a course within our Learning Management System as well as a dedicated virtual classroom environment where the Instructor meets them every week to deliver their instruction remotely. Students access the virtual classroom by way of a link within their assigned course housed within the LMS. In addition to providing an integrated link to the Virtual Classroom, the course also provides students with access the three most recent class recordings and any other activities and resources the Instructor has opted to share (weekly quizzes, downloadable resources (such as PowerPoint Presentations, Word documents, etc.). Instructors can also arrange for the LMS to facilitate the mid-term.
