New Website Information Sheet
Design and Development
Brewer Direct’s professional Digital Team of web developers and client service representatives
strive to make the design and development of your new website as easy and cost-effective as
possible.
This document will answer three basic questions:
What’s included?
How long will it take?
How much will it cost?
What’s included?
Content ‒ The first step is the transfer of all content – art, text, photos, graphics, media, forms
and links – from your current website.
BDI will produce a series of Word documents, one for each section of your new website,
containing all your current website information which will be sent to you for corrections, updates
and approval. This includes up to 40 pages (single-spaced, 12-pt font in a Word doc) of website
content including a maximum of three (3) simple web-based forms (such as the e-newsletter
sign-up form from your website’s home page), five (5) embedded videos and up to 50 MB of
media (audio, video and photos). You will be responsible for reviewing this document and
providing corrections and approval.
Text and graphics for any 3rd
party content on your site such as planned giving pages, special
events or specialized software will be transferred as is by BDI to your new website; however all
specialized software and forms connected with this content must be added to and maintained by
the third party. (If adjustments need to be made to the third party software to make it mobile
compliant, an additional estimate will be required.)
BDI will work with you to secure all domain registration, website and e-mail server hosting
information before we begin building the new website in order to ensure a smooth transition to
your hosting server when the new website goes live. If you have specific internal server
configurations or require unique domain referrals, we will need to know about those in advance.
Design – The sample templates on the following pages will be used to design your new website
with exciting features including a large slideshow area on the home page for special events,
prominently placed Donate, Volunteer and E-mail sign up buttons, featured stories and monthly
appeals. It will also be designed to be mobile responsive for easy viewing on tablets and smart
phones.

Development ‒ Once you have updated and edited the content document for your new site, BDI
will develop a home page layout and site map which will be submitted for your approval before
the building of the new site begins. (Any changes to the home page layout, site map and content
after the site build has begun may affect the timeline and budget. This will be discussed with you
as changes are made and will be billed as a separate project.)
Sample Home Page Template:
The home page for your new website will include:

News/Event Section featuring 4 news or events of your choice
Up to 4 banner ads
Optional Monthly Statistics (Meals, Nights of Shelter, etc.)
Optional Dynamically Updated Facebook Feed (this would take the place of 2 ad spaces)

Key features of your new website:
Custom graphics will be designed for your home page banner, site background, and
overall color scheme, based on the input you provide. One design will be submitted for
your approval. Any requested changes to this design may affect your timeline and budget.
The home page will feature a rotating slideshow, which can be used to promote
upcoming events, feature monthly appeals and share stories of changed lives.
Graphics for your donation page will be designed to seamlessly integrate the page with
your new website (this applies to donation pages hosted by Service Network only).
The home page will feature an easy to use e-mail sign-up form to help grow your online
donor database.
The home page slideshow will feature a slide that links your direct mail appeal with an
online appeal page, integrating your fundraising message across online and offline
channels.
The home page can include a section featuring key statistics highlighting how the donors’
gifts make a difference, i.e. the number of meals served and nights of shelter provided
each month.
Each month, the featured gift amounts on your donation page (this applies to donation
pages hosted by Service Network only) will be updated to correspond with the monthly
direct mail and online appeal, integrating online and offline communications.
Your website will be fully integrated with your social media channels, including links to
Facebook, Twitter and You Tube on every page and for visitors to click and share links
with their friends.
On the internal pages, banners featuring ongoing membership programs, planned giving,
volunteer opportunities, etc. can be featured.
The template is built mobile ready – designed to render appropriately on smart phones,
tablets and desktop computers.
BDI’s Digital Team will train your Mission staff members to use the content
management system. This will allow your staff to make content edits quickly and easily.
BDI will continue to maintain and update your site. The template for your new site
will be built with an industry-standard Content Management System (CMS), Drupal,
ensuring a more secure and easy-to-update website. So website maintenance will take
less time, allowing you to stretch your quarterly maintenance hours further.
