Hi, this is Kaela Altman, Member Development Coordinator for the National Association of Realtors Commercial Real Estate division. On behalf of the NAR Commercial staff and volunteer leadership, we thank you for inviting us to present today!
Change management is like harnessing a hurricane – you know there is power to tap into; however the event feels untamable and unmanageable. Up close, the destruction is tangible. Step back and it’s possible to see the potential for development and change.
In the midst of all this change, the commercial real estate industry and professionals like you remain dedicated to investing in commerce, housing, healthcare, schools and the structural foundations needed to sustain vital businesses and communities.
You are all here today seeking answers to your questions about the future. Meetings like the Indiana Commercial Real Estate Conference are happening around the country. They are an important part of the exchange of information and discourse that will shape the commercial real estate industry now and in the future. The National Association of Realtors works with 185 commercial overlay boards, structures and groups across the nation representing 81,000 commercial members. There is a great deal of deal of power to harness with your membership in NAR.
Based on the surveys you respond to and the continuing conversations we have with you across the county, NAR Commercial knows where you want to be – well informed and in the driver’s seat with all the information you need to make a plan, make a choice and grow your business.
Discover the three elements of your membership in the National Association of REALTORS to assist you in harnessing change and growing your business.
The first element of your membership is Advocacy. NAR advocates for the commercial real estate business in Washington and in every state. This year NAR spearheaded the Commercial Economic Real Estate Outreach meeting in June 2009. Nineteen (19) commercial real estate industry firms and organizations were in attendance. At this meeting, a consensus was formed on legislative and regulatory issues impacting the commercial real estate industry. This coalition continues to meet and has agreed to engage in a grassroots effort to engage and educate congressional members about the commercial real estate industry. If you are interested in scheduling a roundtable meeting with your congressional representation to discuss commercial real estate issues – please contact NAR’s Commercial division for a how-to guide on our grassroots efforts. Fifty percent (50%) of the issues NAR advocates for on Capitol Hill directly impact commercial real estate. No other organization in DC has the knowledge and influence to effectively advocate for commercial real estate business. There are two things you can do today to tap into the power of your advocacy benefits: Sign up to receive alerts through the REALTOR Action Center and Donate to RPAC today! Help us meet our goal of doubling the number of commercial members donating to RPAC. You can do both at www.realtoractioncenter.com
