Robinson Crusoe is not only an adventure story but also a moral tale.
Robinson remains on the island for 27 years.
After arriving at Island, he remains aware of his own self.
He turns from his external social world to inward.
The idea of the calculation of his own soul or self awareness is important
which Defoe follows throughout his life.
The beginning of the book deals with the struggle with not society but his
parents expectations.
Crusoe needs more remorse. He believes that his major sin is his rebellious
behaviour toward his father, which he thinks as his “original sin”.

The Relationship Between Robinson Crusoe
And Friday
Crusoe names the man he meets, he calls him
Friday
Friday is drawn by the narrator as non-white man.
There is a clear master-slave element to their
relationship.
The personalities of Friday and Crusoe are
contrasts when Friday meets his father. Crusoe
also motivates him.
He also loves Friday, which is a remarkable.
Crusoe only expresses his love for him, not for
sister, wife, brothers or parents. It suggests the
appeal of Friday’s personality.
