12. Direct Message (DM)
Your DM
space is like
your twitter
inbox
Private
You can’t DM
someone
unless they
follow you
13. The @ sign
Put this in front of the twitter
name of the person you are
trying to send a tweet to.
(If you click the little reply
button next to a tweet, you
don't have to type the symbol.)
Whenever a person’s name is
preceded by a @ symbol, that
means that the sentence (tweet)
that follows is directed at them
14. Tiny URL
URL-shortening sites like TinyUrl, bit.ly and Tinycc
come in extremely handy when you're recommending
links and still have something to say about it (which
you should - never drop blind links).
Paste the long domain and the site will convert it into
a 25-characters-or-less shortened link.
Great way to share photos, blogs, etc.

16. Retweet (RT)
If someone tweets something
that interests you and you
feel it would interest your
followers, you retweet it for
your readers.
Think of it as forwarding an
email to everyone in your
network
It essentially quotes that
person’s tweet and gives them
the credit, so people can see
the tweet and follow that
person
17. How to Retweet RT
Copy the text of the tweet you like, making sure to pay attention
to the user that you are copying from.
Then scroll up to your text entry box at the top, and begin your
tweet with "RT @username: " then paste your copied text.
Or select retweet at the bottom of their message in your newsfeed
18. How Do I Make My
Tweets, RE-Tweetable?
Someone can’t retweet you if you take up all 140
characters, add up the number of characters in your
twitter handle, and add 5 characters. Subtract that
number from 140. That’s how many characters you
have to work with.
140 - # of characters in Twitter Name - 5 =
maximum tweet length for retweeting
19. Adding a Photo
Set-up your
account

online or
with an
email
