How do I pass my exams well?
Your Mission


  In groups of no more than 4 you will plan a lesson
   for the class to revise a topic for the exam.
  Your lesson should include 2-3 activities.
  You will have 2-3 periods to prepare this lesson.

Planning the lesson
Your lesson should include:
 A clear explanation of what your topic is and which text it is
  from.
 An explanation of what you want the class to achieve by the
  end of the period and how they will achieve it.
 Activities for the class to do which will help them understand
  more about your topic.
 Example answers where needed.
Planning the activities
   Aim to cover the 3 levels of thinking with your activities: gathering information,
    processing information and applying what has been learned.
 Gathering is finding answers and writing them down.
 Processing is explaining or describing how something is seen or done.
 Applying is using what has been learned and making sense of it by writing or creating
    something new.
   Aim to have at least 1 of each type of activity.

To make your activity valuable consider:
 Answers that include quotes
 Requiring higher order thinking such as links to the real
  world, what we learn about human behaviour and the
  author’s/director’s purpose.
 Answers with full explanations
Resources

 If you need access to computers or any other resources, let me
  know in plenty of time so that I can organise that for you.

  • 2. Driving Question How do I pass my exams well?
  • 3. Your Mission  In groups of no more than 4 you will plan a lesson for the class to revise a topic for the exam.  Your lesson should include 2-3 activities.  You will have 2-3 periods to prepare this lesson. Thinking Gathering Relating to others Using language, text and Processing symbols Applying Managing self Participating and contributing
  • 4. Topics Choose a topic from the list:  Camera work Unfamiliar text:  Sound and lighting  Poetry  Director’s purpose  Prose Extended Text:  Speech  Themes  Language features  Characters Visual Text:  Setting  Themes  Symbols and motifs  Characters  Language features  Setting  Style  Symbols and motifs  Author’s purpose

Planning the lesson Your lesson should include:  A clear explanation of what your topic is and which text it is from.  An explanation of what you want the class to achieve by the end of the period and how they will achieve it.  Activities for the class to do which will help them understand more about your topic.  Example answers where needed.
  • 6. Planning the activities  Aim to cover the 3 levels of thinking with your activities: gathering information, processing information and applying what has been learned.  Gathering is finding answers and writing them down.  Processing is explaining or describing how something is seen or done.  Applying is using what has been learned and making sense of it by writing or creating something new.  Aim to have at least 1 of each type of activity.

  • 11. Is it valuable? To make your activity valuable consider:  Answers that include quotes  Requiring higher order thinking such as links to the real world, what we learn about human behaviour and the author’s/director’s purpose.  Answers with full explanations
