                     situation

 twitter shouldn't give
 private info.


 Post a photo of
 something that
 represents you
 instead of a photo for
 total privacy.
Be friendly
• It's not all about you

• Retweet

• Reply

• Engage
Abbreviations
• RT - retweet simply
  sends the original
  tweet


• MT - modified tweet.
  You can edit the
  original tweet to add
  your own perspective
Hashtags #

• A hashtag is added to a
  tweet to make it easy for
  people to follow a topic.
  Our class hashtags are:


• #wellsyr9


• #wellsyr10
Don't make a hash of it

Too many
hashtags or text
speak makes
tweets hard to
read
Be positive

• Don't use twitter to
  vent or complain all
  the time - boring!


• Under no
  circumstance bully
  others! This has lead
  to suicide. Seriously.
Block unwanted followers
 Random people will follow you at times.

 You don't have to follow them and you can block
 them.
Be interesting
Think about how your
tweet will make people
feel:


•Will it make them laugh?


•Will it intrigue them?


•Will it surprise them?
Be helpful

everyone (in school, at home, in other
countries) to know.

Ask yourself: Is this something I want
everyone to see? Is there anything in my post
that should be private?

2. Do not share personal information.

Ask yourself: Could someone find where I live
based on this information?
Think first

3. Think before you post.
Ask yourself: What could
be the consequences of
this post? Is anyone
harmed in any way by this
post?
Consider your Audience
4. Know you are communicating with
people all over the world.

Ask yourself: Who is going to look at
this, and how will they interpret my
words.

5. Consider your audience and that
you’re representing Orewa College.

Ask yourself: Do I have a good
reason/purpose to write this?
Be positive
6. Know how to give constructive
feedback.

Ask yourself: What will I cause by
writing this comment? Is my
comment helpful, or just criticism?

7. Treat other people the way you
want to be treated.

Ask yourself: Would I want
someone to say this to me?
Look smart
8. Use appropriate language and proper grammar and
spelling. note: style for blogging is more familiar,
conversational, narrative, etc.; less formal than academic
writing, but you should still use good diction and grammar.



Ask yourself: Would I want this post to be graded for grammar
and spelling?
Integrity is essential

9. Only post information that you can verify is true (no
gossiping).

Ask yourself: Is this inappropriate, immature or bullying?

10. Anytime you use media from another source, properly
