Last week's Spin The Wheel was all about employee generated content. And we had some great commentary and participation from those watching the live broadcast.

4. Our intranet was launched 4 years
back - at that time people would
only like the senior-most leader's
comments. Today stories
generated by our manufacturing
locations get more likes and
comments than that of the senior
leader.

5. Most companies only have a
handful of comms people. They'll
never let us hire several hundred
or thousand people in comms.
But we can unleash all of our
employees to tell their own
versions of their experience with
our brands.
Jason Anthoine
Audacity
6. Allowing just a simple
function of commenting
means a connection between
the whole organization, no
matter of role, and can make
leaders give a more human
and approachable image.

7. I love employee-generated
content and the reason I love it is
because I believe when you open
up the boundaries in your
organization and you let people
have their voices and share their
stories, then the richness that you
get for your content is amazing.

8. Often for employees, this is their first chance
to participate in communication. And that's
something that SocialChorus and our
platform really helps facilitate is getting more
people involved in the communication
process than just the comms team.
And it lets communicators be the facilitators,
be the ones that you build the structure, you
build the bridge, you build the tunnel, but let
other people drive on it.

9. If you're frustrated about the content that
comes through (from employees), then give
people boundaries to say, "Here's the tone of
voice, style, template," et cetera, that gives
them flexibility because that's where the
richness comes in.
That's where the variety comes in. And as an
organization, you're richer for it.

10. What I see are leaders and communicators
almost afraid of what their employees are
going to share, which I don't always know
where that fear comes from, because what
I see oftentimes is that super rich, that
really authentic stuff.
That's the good gooey stuff out there that
employees share.

11. I think it's about trust.
Trusting your people to do
the right thing, rather than
assume they're going to the
wrong thing.

12. It's not always just about that
frontline employee. It's giving
leaders a chance to add depth
and add context and put it in
their own words, which I think
is just as powerful as allowing
frontline people create their
own content.

13. It's about us working in partnership
with our organization to amplify
employee voice and create the
conditions where our employees
can thrive.
And our role is to facilitate and
enable our people to really share
their stories.

14. As communicators, we can guide
employees. We can give them the rails
to stay within, but tell it in their voice.
No matter where you're from or what
you job you have.
And especially with the Black Lives
Matter movement that we're in where
we are recognizing a lack of voices.
Now's the time to open that up.
