2. Im 14 years old and I live in Kaunas. I am at 8 grade at music
school and “Vyturys” school. I am proffesional pianist.
I’ve won “Grand Prix” in Italy and three first places in Germany
and a lot of more.
In golf, I’ve won Third places three times.

4. I study at Kaunas “Vyturys“ school.
Only this school, works the purposeful arts education
programs and poverty with music.
My school building in three high.
It has sport stadium.
5. Kaunas was first mentioned in written sources in 1361 in the
chronicle of Wigand of Marburg, when the Grand Master of
the Teutonic Knights isued an order to gather information
about castle, built on the bank of the Neris River, as
preparation for an assault.
6. The rise and prosperity of Kaunas are associated with the river
waterways, which were an important trade artery for the
Vikings during the 8th to 12th centuries.
7. Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania, located in the
centre of country at the confluence of the two largest
Lithuanian rivers, the Nemunas and the Neris, surrounded
by the hills of Žaliakalnis (literally: Green Hill), Aleksotas and
Šilainiai.
The hart of Kaunas city is Laisvės alėja (literally: Liberty
avenue)- one of the longest pedestrian streets in Europe
(1621 meters- long)
8. One of the symbols of Kaunas city is
the Town Hall often called the White
Swan because of its white colour
and graceful forms.
It was the most ornate Town Hall in
the territory of the Grand Duchy of
Lithuania.
It construction began in 1542.
The Town Hall is now the Wedding
Palace with the exhibition of the
Museum of Ceramics in the
basemant.
9. The Gothic and Renaissance buildings are the greatest
adornment of the city and the impressive complexes of Baroque
Architecture buildings have become centres of attraction within
the city’s surroundings.
The old town of Kaunas has retained the structure of a
medieval city.
The oldest public tranportation in Kaunas is the horse- drawn
tram line from Town Hall to the railway station began in 1887.

The buildings are full of love, patriotism and life stories.
11. Kaunas is a cradle of basketball. BC “Žalgiris” from Kaunas
is the oldest and the most successful men’s basketball club
in Lithuania.
The very first official basketball game in Kaunas was held in
1922 and the sports became extremely popular when
Lithuanian won the European basketball championship held
in Riga in 1937.
12. Arvydas Sabonis, the brightest basketball star in Lithuania

13. Kaunas Sports Hall was built in 1939 and it’s the first
arena in Europe built specially for basketball.
The new “Žalgiris” Arena, built for the 2011 European
Basketball Championship, is the largest indoor arena in the
Baltic States.
15. Lithuania was first mentioned in 1009 in Qedlinburg annals.
Mindaugas became the Grand Duke of Lithuania at about
1240 and was baptised with his family in 1253. At the end
of XIVth - and the beginnning of the XV century Lithuania
became one of the most powerful states in the Eastern
Europe.
16. Last summer I’ve been to Molėtai with my class. We’ve been to
Observatory of celestial bodies observation. We saw a real
meteorit and a lot of ancient teleskope’s.
The sky was cloudy so we couldn’t see celestial bodies.
