Good Stuff Happens in 1:1 Meetings: Why you need them and how to do them well
How To Remove Oxidation From Your Car
1. PREVENTING OXIDATION
Of course, the best method for treating oxidation is to prevent it.
Regular waxing — at least one time per month — can help.
Also, store your car in a garage or under a car cover to protect
the paint.
HOW TO REMOVE
OXIDATION FROM YOUR CAR
Have you noticed over time that your silver jewelry that was once boasted
a brilliant shine is now tarnished and dull? This is an example of oxidation
caused by moisture, elements in the air, and exposure. Similarly, these same
elements can cause oxidation on your car paint. Which can possibly result
in the of oxidation of the metal, causing the metal to rust.
Here are some tips you can use to remove and restore car paint oxidation:
At the first stage, oxidized car paint will have a slightly dull look.
As it progresses, the paint surface will begin to fade.
Heavy oxidation causes a dull, chalky surface.
The final stage — which cannot be repaired without repainting
— is clear coat failure. This causes patches where the paint has
begun to dissolve.
UNDERSTAND THE LEVELS OF CAR PAINT OXIDATION
1. Set up in a shaded area with a temperature between
70 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Clean the car thoroughly to remove all dust and dirt, and allow
it to dry.
3. Use a car oxidation removal product to eliminate oxidation.
Polishing compounds work well on light to moderate oxidation,
while heavy oxidation requires a rubbing compound.
4. Apply the oxidation removal product gently in a small area,
working it into the paint and removing it quickly. Continue
until all signs of oxidation are gone.
5. Wax the car after it is clean and polished to protect the paint
from future oxidation.
6. Don’t forget to clean and polish oxidized headlights as well,
using an appropriate headlights cleaner.
