Dans le cadre de H2Hub Wallonia, le Cluster TWEED, en partenariat avec les pôles Mecatech et GreenWin, ont organisé une séance d'information le 24 mai au sein de A6K à Charleroi, qui a réalisé le point sur des développements récents liés à cette nouvelle filière en Wallonie au travers de 3 présentations : Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, DMA Tech et HECO2.

Origine de la démarche : assurer la présence du secteur
industriel dans les plans de relance
• Souvenons nous: déjà 2 ans ! La COVID frappait, avec une perspective de
crise économique et sociale. Et les challenges du long terme eux, demeurent
inchangés. On évoque une relance qui devra aussi les prendre en compte.
• Eté 2020, quelques acteurs à l’initiative de Materia Nova et AGC notamment ,
se réunissent pour réfléchir sur une initiative pour l’industrie en Wallonie.
• Assez rapidement , le thème de la transition vers la neutralité carbone de
l’industrie s’impose comme une évidence
• Après élargissement du groupe initial, le projet se structure en 5 axes de
travail et prend le nom HECO2 = hydrogène, électrification et CO2 capture et
utilisation pour une industrie Wallonne CARBON NEUTRAL.

• Et souligne la question du besoin pour les grosses industries d’une
rupture dans les technologies, avec des risques majeurs et un
besoin de support financier pour aider à cette transition
• La situation géopolitique récente ne fait que renforcer l’urgence
d’avancer sur la voie de la transition. Les sujets retenus par HECO2
montrent toute leur pertinence.

28. LA PROPOSITION HECO2

Pour décarboner l’industrie Wallonne et la développer, hors des sources d’énergie fossile, 2
voies sont possibles:
à L’électrification chaque fois que c’est possible, à partir d’électricité décarbonée.
à L’hydrogène comme source d’énergie alternative, élaborée sans émission de CO2.
En complément, notamment pour les émissions fatales des procédés, la capture du CO2
sera le troisième levier.
Mobilisé pour cet objectif, le projet HECO2 a été découpé en 5
axes procédés supportés par une roadmap transversale:
- Axe 1 : électrification des procédés
- Axe 2 : génération d’hydrogène décarbonée par électrolyse
- Axe 3 : génération d’hydrogène décarbonée par pyrolyse du
CH4 ( GN, biogaz ou grisou) par solution Plasma
- Axe 4 : utilisation directe de l’hydrogène H2
- Axe 5 : Capture et concentration de CO2 pour des
applications CCU/CCS
29. LA SITUATION HECO2 APRÈS LES DÉCISIONS DU PLAN DE
RELANCE WALLON
H2
La décision de la région Wallonne après rapport du jury a été
communiquée fin mars 2022 dans le cadre du plan de relance.
Le projet HECO2 a été retenu, mais pas sur l’ensemble du programme
- Les axes 1, 2 et 3 ont été retenus dans leur entièreté
- L’axe 4 : utilisation de l’hydrogène, n’a pas été retenu
- L’axe 5 : 2 des 3 sous projets seulement ont été retenus.
Les différents axes sont sur le point de finaliser les accords de consortium
et le travail va pouvoir démarrer.
En ce qui concerne le sujet de l’axe 4, nous réfléchissons au moyen de
relancer le sujet d’une autre façon, car sa pertinence demeure. En même
temps que l’on développera la production d’hydrogène décarboné, il faudra
développer ses usages !
30. à L’urgence d’accélérer la transition énergétique est là !
à Après la priorité aux économies d’énergie partout où c’est possible, et
l’électrification de tout ce qui peut l’être afin de consommer de façon
optimale l’électricité renouvelable, l’hydrogène décarboné doit
contribuer de façon importante à cette transition !
à Cet hydrogène il va falloir d’abord le produire de façon sûre et
efficace: HECO2 veut y contribuer
à Pour la filière électrolyse : c’est l’axe 2 piloté par John Cockerill
à Pour la filière Pyrolyse Plasma: c’est l’axe 3 piloté par Materia Nova
à Et il va falloir développer son utilisation : c’était l’objectif de l’axe 4.
