From the home page of the LFCC SIS find “enrollment” and “enrollment add classes” noted by the red arrow. Follow this link to the next action.
If you choose to browse the catalog the next screen will give you a list of courses available at the institution and during the semester your chose. Browsing the catalog allows you to see what is offered across the VA community college system.But for now let’s focus on a specific class search.
When I choose class search the “Class search criteria” page opens. This page has several options to in utilizing the class search program.
If you have a specific class in-mind for example ENG111 English Composition then you can input the Course Subject “ENG” and the course Number “111”
Entering the exact course will return a list of available classes for that course. But perhaps you do not know the course number only that you need to take another English class.
From the previous page you can choose the subject “ENG” and choose the campus you would like to take the class at
This search will return a list of ALL English classes that are available at the campus you chose. Sometimes this can be a very long list.
Ideally you would know what level of class you are seeking. For instance ENG 111 is often a Freshman class, where as ENG 211 is often a sophomore class. Choosing the level in the 100 range, or in the 200 range can make your search more concise.

The search result for ENG greater than or equal to “200” returned the class that are in the 200 level (usually second year courses) that are available at the campus you chose and the semester you chose.
You can narrow you search even further by using the “Additional Search Criteria”

You can also choose the days of the week you would prefer to take classes. This is a great way to find days that fit your schedule, perhaps you work on certain days?
Or you heard that one particular teacher was an “easier grader”
You can even choose the mode of instruction you prefer. There are several other search criteria available, look around and see what you can find.
Once you have found the class you are searching for, as well as the time and place you would like to take the class,

The first thing to look at is the Enrollment information to see if there are any prerequisites or other specifics to add this class. If there is a prerequisite that you have not fulfilled, the system will not let you “add” this course, and you will need to contact your advisor. Once you have found all the classes that you would like to take, you may proceed to add, swap, drop or change you enrollment.
