THE REHOBOTH AGREEMENT
• Both states appointed boundary
commissioners and gave them unlimited
power to “run the boundary line” and
AGREED ON A BOUNDARY
• But the Massachusetts legislature refused to
ratify the agreement in 1848
• Then Massachusetts sued Rhode Island in the
Supreme Court
