February 22 & 23, 2014
Code Across is a once-a-year weekend of hackathons, meetups, and community events, building a
patriotic spirit of collaboration. It’s an annual Code for America initiative each February with our city
partners, civic developers and Brigade community organizers across the country (and, starting this year,
across the world!) that creates an impressive number of Github repos, beta apps, liberated datasets, media,
and other achievements.
This year will be our third and biggest ever Code Across - we are planning for over 30 public
gatherings with more than 1000 participants that weekend in cities including San Francisco, Chicago, New
York, Boston, Philadelphia, Denver, San Antonio, Austin, Las Vegas, Miami, Seattle, Washington DC,
Houston and Atlanta. And since we opened to international partners this year, the event will cross borders
and happen around the globe including in countries like Ireland, Japan, and Poland.
WHO
Talented, socially-minded developers, designers, and mappers; local government officials; city
and county employees and tech decision-makers; public and urban planners; community
organizers who are driving civic tech innovation in their cities; innovative startups and
entrepreneurs; and community members from all walks of life.
WHAT
An international initiative and local public events on Saturday 2/22 and Sunday 2/23. Code for
America coordinates the national event, creating media and content to bring the community
together, running a national online hangout during the weekend, distributing organizer’s kits,
and sharing the success stories afterward. Check out this Storify for pictures and more details.
WHERE Over 30 cities around the globe, including cities where we have local Brigade Captains, our
2014 Fellowship cities, our international partners, and more.
Code for America promotes the event widely to our network via email, website, and social media. In 2013
Code Across America was covered by the Huffington Post, Silicon Prairie News, key civic tech blogs as well
as many local outlets who covered the individual events. See the page for Code Across America 2013 here.
2. Become A Sponsoring Partner | $15,000
We've seen how event partnerships can be a powerful entry point to connect with the CfA community.
Other sponsors who’ve connected with our community partners, Fellows, Brigade members and civic tech
startup founders have forged deep collaborations from the face-to-face conversations at our events. What’s
more, you’ll not only be positively shaping our communities, but you’ll be aligning with some of the most
influential leaders in the government and technology space.
As a non-profit, we need sponsors like you to make Code Across possible. With your help, we can bring
together hundreds of developers, designers, city officials and community members for events across the
country. As a company interested in improving government, we want you here at the table.
This is an opportunity available to a limited number of select sponsors. Your support goes directly to help
fund the national Code for America Brigade program.
How your company can engage as a Code Across sponsoring partner:
NATIONAL NETWORK:
■ Opportunity to participate in pre-event planning call with CfA team, local Brigade captains
and organizers, and other partners.
■ Participate in media made to promote the event (last year we made a call-to-action video).
■ Thank you from headquarters on the weekend of the events in a national online hangout or
webcast.
■ Recognition in pre- and post-event emails to the full Code for America list and the CfA
Brigade list.

LOCAL IN OVER 30 CITIES:

would be on the included sign and you can share materials, swag, and/or prizes.
■ Thank you from the local event organizers during remarks at the event.
■ Opportunity to participate in person at the events that are geographically convenient or
most interesting to your team. Depending on the nature of the local event(s), this might
include giving brief remarks, offering an optional training, demoing a cool app, or posing a
custom challenge or project idea to participants. Engagement subject to mutual agreement
with the local organizer(s).
■ Logo and acknowledgment in on local event webpages and in targeted emails sent to local
city officials and volunteer developers.
