Comenius, way to knowledge
My first contact with Comenius project was coincidence. Our English teacher came to
me and asked me, if I wanted to join an English project. At first I did not know if I wanted
to. I thought that it would be boring. Fortunately, I did it and next two years started to be
times of fun and cognition.
At first, we became acquainted with main ideas of the project and with our colleagues
from our school and we were full of expectation. We entered to unknown waters and we
could only imagine what we would experience. Our first work was to do presentation
and materials about Czech education, country and our school. The major part of
presentation was education. We spend a lot of time to complete all facts and how to
write it, because in this project are also Turkey students and we realized that they have
different culture. So we were finding the easiest way how to describe our education
system and all about our culture.
First meeting was in Italy. So we really looked forward to it. We flew to Italy by plane. It
was first time for me and it left deep impressions in me. I really enjoyed it. I stayed in
Chiara Camporose. She is amazing. We had lot of fun and we talked all the time. In Italy
we created a logo of our project and also we had lots of sightseeing and some social
activities. We visited lot of interesting places, but the most interesting was Venice. It was
beautiful city with interesting architecture of buildings. When we were leaving Italy, we
did not want to go home. I think that I told all Czech members of Comenius that we could
stay there longer. I think that the meeting could be longer, one week is really a little
time. But I understood that it is impossible. After the arrival we did evaluation of our
visit in Italy and we started preparation to next meeting, which was in our motherland.
We were eagerly expecting colleagues from other countries, which united our project.
Our guests arrived to Staré Město railway station, where we met them and then took

them to our homes. I got Kaan, a Turkish boy from Istanbul. He is silent person, but
generally good boy. I understood him because he was in foreign country and he is so
young. The second day we showed our school to our guests and then we did some
project work. We presented the famous people of our countries and how they influenced
our culture and what we could learn from them. The stay in the Czech Republic was full
of showing our culture and history. We showed them historical part of Uherské Hradiště,
old monastery in Velehrad and other interesting things. We hoped that they enjoyed
their stay here.
My second and last voyage was to Poland. I dare to say that it was the best meeting. We
went there by train from Staré Město. The journey was really, really good. We had lot of
fun and I met new people from our school. We arrived to Lublin in the evening. Then we
threw our staff to our hosts and went to the first meeting. Polish students are very
sociable and hospitable. It left in me lots of impressions. Also we had many funny
activities. I admire Poles that they organized such a rich program. I really enjoyed our
visit of Kazimierz Dolny, it is really beautiful town with beautiful river Visla. I like that
they have natural banks. We haven’t got any in our country. And also I like Polish forests.
I saw it only from bus or train, but it looks really interesting, unfortunately I had no
chance to visit them. My summary of visit of Poland is only the best. If I had to write all I
wanted it would be another separate essay.
And that is basically all what I experienced with Comenius. It gave me lot of experiences,
I improved my English. I can only recommend this project to other students.
