We use the Past Simple Tense to talk about finished actions:  Mary played the piano yesterday.
I went to a U2 concert last Saturday.
Some people cried at the end of the film last night.
We have some regular verbs  We add –ed to the base form of these verbs: play-played walk-walked learn-learned show-showed open-opened enter-entered
We have some irregular verbs:
We have some exceptions to the regular verbs:
Negative form:
Negative form  Mary didn’t play the piano yesterday.  I didn’t go to a U2 concert last Saturday.  Some people didn’t cry at the end of the film yesterday.
Interrogative form
Interrogative form Did Mary play the piano yesterday? Yes, she did. / No, she didn’t. Did you go to a U2 concert last Saturday? Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t. Did some people cry at the end of the film? Yes, they did. / No, they didn’t.
