Athletic League.
3. ABOUTTHE BROOKLYN/STATEN ISLAND
ATHLETIC LEAGUE
Established in Brooklyn over 30 years ago, the Brooklyn/Staten
Island Athletic League now meets for three hours, twice a week,
in a clean, well-lit indoor gymnasium at PS 8 in the Staten Island
neighborhood of Great Kills. Consisting primarily of former high
school, college, and playground basketball players, all of whom
are over the age of 30, it offers members a high caliber of play in
a competitive environment. The style of play in the league is
notable for its members’ adherence to the basic fundamentals of
the game, such as setting picks and boxing out.
4. ABOUTTHE BROOKLYN/STATEN ISLAND
ATHLETIC LEAGUE
Thanks to partnerships with the Board of Education and school
staff -- in addition to strong player connections -- the
Brooklyn/Staten Island Athletic League has maintained its
membership levels despite the occasional departure of players.
Those interested in joining the fee-based league are encouraged
to contact Craig Raucher at craucher@aol.com.
