• STATUS SO FAR
• The trip has been approved by Senior
Management.
• Flights are booked and accommodation
is being held.
• Cost will be dependant on the numbers
of students. We need to have 18
students to make this feasible.
4. WHAT IS PROPOSED

5. SO WHAT IS NEXT?
• We will need to confirm seats in the next
week to get the dates proposed.
• If you are sure you are interested:
• Fill in the form available and return this
with a deposit of $600 to secure your
place. This needs to be given by hand to
Mr Smith or Mrs Evans in room R86
or the Social Science Office.
• Note that this will be refundable only if
there are others to take your place.

school finance office at regular intervals.

• Students must have met all their
school commitments re
fees/behaviour etc. to be allowed to
attend the trip.
9. REQUIREMENTS
• The Staff also reserve the right to
refuse some students on account of
their behaviour.
• There is a lot of trust involved in a
trip like this that must not jeopardise
the safety of the group.

• Students should have some
Vaccinations to Enter Brazil eg Yellow
Fever , but must have had MMR due
to quarantine risk

11. Itinerary
• Day One and Two
• Fly from Auckland to Rio De
Janeiro on LAN Chile
• Stay 2 nights at The World
Famous Copacabana Beach
• See the Statue of the Christ on
Sugarloaf Mountain, Half day Tour
of the local area and an evening
Samba Show.

• Day Three
• Depart Rio for Manaus.
• Arrive Manaus and Transfer to
Malocas Ecolodge.

• Day 3
• Transfer by road to the Vila do Rio Preto
and take a motorized canoe to the
Malocas Jungle Lodge (approximately
1.5hr).
• On arrival at the Lodge, accommodation
in double rooms with private toilets and
shower. Lunch. We will be taken by
canoe through the local area to visit the
Caboclos (local tribe) who still live in
similar conditions to their indian
ancestors. After diner, spotting alligators.

• Day Four
• After breakfast we will go on a jungle trek
where the guides will explain the various
uses of the plants including those with
medicinal properties. On the way we will
visit one of the many waterfalls where we
can swim.
• Paddling canoes and fish for piranhas for
Dinner. After supper, sitting around the
campfire where you can appreciate the
tranquillity of the jungle

• Day five
• Wake up early for bird
watching, after breakfast you will go
on a second jungle trek (different
eco-system) ending at a waterfall
where you can swim before
returning. Lunch.
• At 3pm, you'll go for a longer trek for
a night in the forest ... Your Indian
guide will make you feel at home in
his forest

18. Itinerary
• Day six, seven
• Return from forest sleep over in the
morning, you'll then leave the lodge in
motorized canoes to travel down the Rio
Preto da Eva... Sleeping onboard a regional
boat in hammocks, you'll reach the Amazon
River the day after
• Go up the Amazon to the meeting of the
waters and then head up the rio negro to
find a nice place to get dinner and sleep.
22. So What Now
• If you want to be considered for this
trip you need to fill out the orange
form and bring it back to Mr Smith
in R86 with a cheque for $600 to
secure your place.
