Writing a letter is not as easy as ABC. We all know we must follow a certain format. Though recipients of our letters may not be so strict, we must still follow the rules in writing them because we want everything to be presentable to them.

Dear Liwayway,
I was very happy to receive your letter. You told
me so many things about the family that for a while I
was with you again.
Do write more frequently even if it is only to say
you are all well.
Lovingly,
Juanita

Dear Barbie,
Mother’s birthday is on Sunday, September 4. The
whole family is going on a picnic to Munting Buhangin
Beach in Batangas. We’d like you to go with us. Please
say you can come.
Munting Buhangin Beach is a wonderful place for
swimming, boating and fishing. Bring your rod and reel,
and I’ll bring mine as well as live shrimp boat.
We’ll leave in a big bus at seven o’clock in the
morning of Saturday, so come to our house before that
time. We’ve rented a cottage there; we’ll sleep
overnight, and come back in the afternoon of Sunday.

Dear Larry,
How I regret that I cannot accept your invitation. I
wish I could join you. I have long wanted to see Munting
Buhangin Beach, but on Friday, September 4, two of my
cousins from Cebu are coming over for the weekend. I
cannot possible leave then because it will be their first
trip here. I have to show them around.
So please give your mother my greeting for a happy
birthday. I know that you will enjoy yourselves very
much and you know that I would go with you if I could.
Sincerely yours,
Barbie

Dear Uncle Pablo,
How did you know I wanted a watch? I had long
envied my classmates for their handsome watches. I
never thought I would be the proud owner of such a
fine watch!
I want you to know I am deeply grateful for your
generosity. Each time I look at the watch, I’m reminded
of you.
Thank you, Uncle Pablo, for this beautiful and
useful gift.
Your nephew,
Mario

Dear Ana,
My sincere congratulations on your splendid
performance in the play presented by your class last
Sunday. I always knew you could act, but I didn’t realize
how well. I was among those who applauded you long
and repeatedly.
More power to you, Ana. I’d like to see you act in
other plays.
Yours,

Dear Doring,
Uncle Benito told me that you were recuperating
from influenza that’s why you didn’t answer my last
letter. Well I’ll just keep on waiting to you until you’re
quite strong again.
Our class is preparing for a Play Day to be held on
March 20, and we’re busy practicing our number in
pyramid building.
Play Day will be on Saturday. Maybe you will be
well enough to come and see us then.
Lovingly yours,
Concha

Dear Jane,
When I got home from school yesterday
afternoon, the first thing I saw was your letter. I was
happy! I dropped my books and read it right away.
I’m sorry to learn that you have been sick. Take
good care of yourself and guard against a relapse.
Just think! In about two weeks school will be
through, and you will be coming over to spend your
holidays with us. Won’t we have fun together! We’ll
talk hours again, just like the old times.
We are planning to take you to Nalinac Beach
when you come. I know you’ll like that. We’ll go
swimming, then maybe afterward we’ll run up and
down by the sea. You have told me that you have
always wished to spend a weekend at a beach resort.
So get well right away. Remember, you’ll need a strong
body for swimming and running.
Lovingly,
Tessie
