A computer is an electronic
device that receives instructions
for processing from the user to
produce the required outcome.

Two Kinds of Output
 Hardcopy which refers to printed output
 Softcopy which refers to data that is shown
on a display screen or is in audio or voice
form.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
- it is the “brain” of the computer
and follows instructions of the
software to manipulate data into
information.

This refers to storing devices and
storage media where data and
instructions are stored before and after
they are use to be process

These are commonly used in
business applications. This includes
modems, fax modem, multiplexers,
concentrators and front-end processor.

USING THE MOUSE
• Place three fingers on the mouse.
• The thumb and little finger are on each
side.
• Rest your index finger on the left button.
• Rest your ring finger on the right button.
• Place your centre finger over the “scroll
wheel” between the 2 buttons.
• You do not have to grip the mouse tightly.

USING THE MOUSE
• Move your hand forward to move cursor
up the screen.
• Move your hand back to move cursor
down.
• Move your hand left or right to move
cursor.

USING THE MOUSE
• Click the left button on your mouse
one time.
• Click it one time.

USING THE MOUSE
• Put your index finger over the left
mouse button.
• Press up and down twice quickly on
the left button.

 The “Space bar” makes spaces between
words when typing.

Tap the bar one time to make a space.

key to move your cursor to the next line.

The Backspace key also deletes everything
to the left of the cursor.

HIGHLIGHTING TO SELECT WORDS
 Put the cursor at the end of the words you want
to select.
 Put your first finger on the left mouse button.
 Hold down the left mouse button.
 Move the mouse across the words.
 Lift up your finger.
 The word will be highlighted in blue. When this is
done, you can move words or change the size, the
colour, and the style of the words on the
computer.

 Click your mouse on any WHITE part of the
page to deselect.

 Click on the up arrow to go up the page
 Click on the down arrow to go down the
page
 Keep typing until you get to the bottom of the
page. This will take you to the next screen.

In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping
and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great
toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.
'Why not come and chat with me,' said the Grasshopper, 'instead of
toiling and moiling in that way?'
'I am helping to lay up food for the winter,' said the Ant, 'and
recommend you to do the same.'
'Why bother about winter?' said the Grasshopper; 'we have got plenty
of food at present.' But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When
the winter came the Grasshopper had no food, and found itself dying of
hunger, while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the
stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew
'IT IS BEST TO PREPARE FOR THE DAYS OF NECESSITY.'
