9. History of Jonker Street
• Jonker street is one of the oldest streets in
Malacca.
• It was first recorded on maps in 1244.
• When Admiral Cheng Ho visited South East
Asia, he has a base in Malacca and it was
supposed to be in Jonker Street.
• Since the 1990s, Jonker street is closed to
traffic every Friday and Saturday evening from
5pm for a night bazaar.
