Registration
What you need to do and know to
Register for next semester’s classes
You Are In Charge
 You are responsible for registering yourself
    for your next semester’s classes
 You will register online through Web
    Advisor
The Basics
 You cannot register until your designated
    registration time.
 You can view this time on Web Advisor by
        clicking on “My Registration Time”
 Works like a start time and you will have until the
start of next semester’s classes to tweak your
        schedule
The Basics
 You have to meet with your academic
    advisor before you can register
 If you don’t, an advising hold on your record will
        prevent you from registering
 Other offices can also put holds
on your account; make sure to
        check “Personal Restrictions” on
        Web Advisor
Pre-Registration Advising
 You are expected to come to your pre-
    registration advising meeting prepared
with a list of possible classes for next
    semester
Three Possible Ways to
Find Out What You Need
 Click on “Program Evaluation” in Web Advisor to get
a report of the requirements you still need to
     complete
 Review the 2012-2013 University Catalog section on
your major and the core curriculum
 You can find it online at www.coastal.edu/catalog
 You can find tracking sheets for majors at
     www.coastal.edu/advising/1213tracking.html
 click on your declared major and it should
          open
Coming up with a list of classes
 Review what you have completed
    or are taking now
 Review the course descriptions for
courses you still need to take
 Most students will focus on foundation and core
        curriculum classes first
Coming up with a list of classes
 Make a list of what classes you
    want/need for next semester
 Make sure to consider if any of your
        future classes have pre-requisites
        you need to take now
 Don’t worry if you have questions or are
unsure – that’s why we meet; just try your
    best
After Pre-Registration Advising
 Create and save a preferred schedule on Web
    Advisor
 This does not save a seat in the class or register
you for it, but can help save you time searching
        at your registration time
 Review your preferred schedule shortly before your
registration time and make any necessary changes
 Come up with alternate classes and times in case
of full classes or other problems
After Pre-Registration Advising
 Double check the “personal restrictions” link on
Web Advisor to make sure you have no holds
 Register for classes at your date and time
 Make sure to register for at least 12
credit hours to stay full time
 Do not worry if you do not create the
“perfect” schedule; you will have until the
start of the next semester to adjust it.
After Registering
 Double check that your registration went
    through
 Log-off Web Advisor and then log back in
 Click on the “My class schedule” link
 Select next semester and review your schedule
 Print out a copy for your records
Congratulations!!
That’s it! You’re done!
If you’ve followed these steps you
should be registered for next semester.
