WHAT IS A POWERPOINT PRESENTAION?

 A PowerPoint presentation is a visual material or tool a person
can use when reporting or presenting a topic.

 It can be made/prepared in a software developed by Microsoft
   called Microsoft PowerPoint.
TIPS IN USING POWERPOINT
       EFFECTIVELY
What matters should we consider in making an effective PowerPoint
                          presentation?
PLAN THE CONTENT OUTLINE

 The content of the presentation is more important than the
    graphical appeal.

 Therefore, the presenter must first develop the structure of the
whole presentation before planning how it would look like.
USE CONTRASTING COLORS

 To make your text more visible, there needs to be a lot of contrast
between the text and the background.

       Dark Background Light Text

        Light Background Dark Text
USE A BIG ENOUGH FONT SIZE

 After choosing an appropriate font style for the presentation, the
presenter must make sure the audience at the backmost part of
the room can see the presentation.
DON’T USE MOVING TEXT

 When the text appears on the screen, the audience tend to read the
presentation because focusing on the speaker.

 Moving text is hard to focus on, therefore, might confuse the
audience.
BLANK THE SCREEN

 This is done if the presenter wants the audience to focus on
him.

 There are two ways to do it during the presentation:
       • Press the B key to get a black screen
       • Press the W key to get a white screen
HAVE EXTRA SLIDES AT THE END

 This prevents the screen from going back to the program if by
accident advanced one slide to many times.

 It is nice to have a slide at the end for the question-and-answer.

 The last slide should be blank.
TURN THE POINTER OFF

 It is somewhat disturbing to have the pointer appear while the
presentation is ongoing.

 To prevent this from happening, press Ctrl+H, to enable the
pointer again, press the A key.

SLIDES

 The audience will be bored to read your presentation if there is an
overload of chunky text.

 It is better to minimize the texts and use visuals like images and
videos to get the audience’s attention.
BE ABLE TO JUMP TO ANY SLIDE

It is better to have navigation links in a part of
the slide to make going back and to a certain part of
the presentation easier.
