2. Curriculum
Six Sigma Lean Green Belt
Take your organization to the next level of improve-
ment, uniting product and process excellence with
goals such as improving customer service and/or
enhancing shareholder value creation. Today’s organi-
zational leaders are turning to Six Sigma Lean Green
Belt training to ensure a competitive edge, improve
service and build in the background and skill base
needed to initiate and sustain performance improve-
ment. Building on learning objectives, the topics in this
program prepare students to be Green Belts and lead
or contribute to improvement efforts in services and
manufacturing. Green Belts play a vital role within a
Six Sigma Lean initiative, building on the Black Belts’
efforts in data collection, analysis, process mapping
and lean implementation. Six Sigma Lean Green Belt
training focuses on problem solving and performance
improvement of a well-defined project led by a Black
Belt. A Green Belt is a member of a Six Sigma Lean
improvement team who has a working knowledge
of Six-Sigma and Lean. Typically Green Belts are
assigned to Six Sigma Lean projects within their area
of responsibility. Topic areas include: definition and
analysis of problems; root cause determination;
solutions generation and selection; and using process
variability and waste elimination tools. Build the skills
you need to create new levels of process performance,
speed and quality. Proceed with your classmates
through the modules applying key concepts and
discussing key issues related to the Six Sigma Lean
process.

3. GREEN BELT COURSES
Six-Sigma Lean Philosophy and Project Selection
MGMT_X410.28 (1.5 Units)
Both Lean and Six Sigma have a defined series of steps or phases. Although the steps or phases are different for each methodology,
there is a common underlying philosophy; namely, processes can be analyzed and systematically improved on a continuous basis.
This course will provide participants with a solid foundation for defining Lean and Six Sigma projects and then launching the
projects successfully. The course covers topics such as creating a project charter, creating a SIPOC chart, creating a Value Stream
Map and setting up a data collection plan. The opportunity to learn from peers is realized through exercises, case studies, and class
presentations that demonstrate the six sigma and lean concepts taught in the course.
Six-Sigma Lean Toolkit
MGMT_X410.18 (2.5 Units)
The foundation of Lean is the systematic identification and elimination of waste from processes. The Lean Toolkit will provide
participants with the means to identify and systematically eliminate waste from a process. This course will provide participants
with a solid foundation for identifying, applying and implementing some of the standard Lean process improvement methodologies.
The course covers topics such as identifying value, mapping the value stream, flowing the product, pull systems, and the concept of
continuous improvement. The opportunity to learn from peers is realized through team exercises, case studies, and class
presentations that demonstrate the lean concepts taught in the course.
Six Sigma Lean Project Success Fundamentals
MGMT_X410.29 (1.5 Units)
This course combines the essential elements of Project Management and Team Leadership into one course. It provides participants
with the opportunity to enhance their personal understanding of team leadership through the study of various theories, concepts
and class exercises. It also defines each team member's role with primary emphasis on the competencies and skills required to be
an effective project leader. The Project Management aspect provides participants with effective methods for assuring projects are
completed on schedule, within budget, and achieve the project's objectives. This course will provide participants with a solid
foundation for initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing a project. The opportunity to learn from peers
is realized through team exercises, case studies, and class presentations that demonstrate the project management concepts taught
in the course.
Six Sigma Lean Descriptive Statistics
MGMT_X410.27 (2.5 Units)
This Green Belt course is a requirement in the Six Sigma Lean program. It is designed for professionals in project management,
operations, engineering, information technology, and those in management positions who are responsible for high impact projects
that will incorporate Six Sigma Lean methodology.
Six-Sigma Lean Project Practicum
MGMT_X410.17 (2.0 Units)
This program focuses on the principles of Project Management of Lean and Six Sigma projects and how to integrate the tools and
techniques into an actual project. Project Management is an effective method to produce agreed upon deliverables within the
constraints of schedule, cost and quality. Six Sigma and Lean are Process Improvement philosophies and methodologies. When
combined, these methodologies can produce startling results to improve processes. The topics covered will involve the use of
brief lectures, team-based exercises and videos. Team-based exercises are used because they allow participants to acquire
experience applying the tools and methodologies demanded by the market place.
